Scout OSU / Mich position rankings...
Scout has OSU & Mich's classes ranked #1 & #2. Here are the position rankings (top 15):
QB: OSU - NR Mich - #11 RB: OSU - #6 Mich - #2 WR/TE: OSU - #6 Mich - #12 OL: OSU - NR Mich - #1 DL: OSU - #2 Mich - #12 LB: OSU - #7 Mich - NR DB: OSU - #1 Mich - #3
Future matchups with OSU's DL vs Mich's OL should be some very good wars in the trenches !

Future matchups with OSU's DL vs Mich's OL should be some very good wars in the trenches ! You can't "rate" the QB position because - unlike ALL the other positions - there is only ONE on the field and three or four ever on scholarship. Two three star QBs that may never play a down for one school would be ranked higher than OSU and Michigan. Just doesn't compute. Believe me - there are about 110 D1 schools who wished they had either Barrett or Morris.

Price and Munger may be OL - Lee may be a LB - these rankings just are not accurate to reality. scUM's LB haul is very good - but NR? That's just not reality.

Re: Scout OSU / Mich position rankings...
How I rate it
Barrett vs Morris- Push. Both schools got the one they really wanted. RBs- Push. Michigan got 2 great Power backs, we got 2 great versatile backs. I think ours compliment each other better than the 2 Michigan got, but Green is the highest ranked WRs- OSU no question TEs- Push. IMO Baugh is much better than Butt, but rankings say they are close and they have a second guy OL- Michigan no question
Pretty much even on the offensive end how I see it, any advantage they have on the OL is matched by our ability to get open quickly compared to their receivers. BUT our offensive coaching is much better than theirs.
Defense is a little different story. DEs- OSU. DTs- OSU. LBs- OSU CBs- OSU S- OSU
We hold a clear talent advantage on the defensive side of the ball. But I would say their DC is an equalizer here.

Re: Scout OSU / Mich position rankings...
The way I see future games being played out...
Our corners should absolutely be able to lock up their weak receivers man to man, and then we have the size, depth, and talent in the front 7 to battle with what should be their outstanding power run game.
On the other hand while we are on offense our OL, while not what it could have been, is talented enough at the starters and has a scheme advantage to go toe for toe with Michigan's good but not outstanding front 4. But then i just don't see the speed and athleticism for the most part in the back 7 for them to keep up with our spread and our weapons.

Given the knocks on Bell's hitting ability and size, you still put him ahead of Burrows at S? I'd almost think the opposite... Bell at CB and Burrows at S. otterbeinbuckeye wrote: mongoose wrote: otterbeinbuckeye wrote: How I rate it

RE: Scout OSU / Mich position rankings...
Thanks guys, yeah I was going to say safety could be a wash with Delano Hill and Dymonte Thomas, but I will concede that one on paper seeing as you have Bell and two 4 stars. Didn't realize you guys had that many safeties coming in. What about DT who is all projected to play there, Bosa I imagine?

DT is likely Sprinkle who is supposed to get up to 290 and be more of a pass rushing DT, Hill, and likely one of Munger/Price (I see the at least one switching to offense, but its possible neither do) Bosa could absolutely grow into a DT as well, wont know until he hits campus.

Burrows is 5'11 and not known for his hitting ability. Either one would have to be a FS if they switched, but I think Burrows would be a better corner than Bell. ryecatcher773 wrote: Given the knocks on Bell's hitting ability and size, you still put him ahead of Burrows at S?
I'd almost think the opposite... Bell at CB and Burrows at S.

The DT's are all 4 stars Michael Hill(South Carolina), Donovan Munger(Ohio), and Billy Price(Ohio). Munger and Price have potential to move to offensive line. DT is not a concern because we already have some studs who were behind Hankins and Goebel

You sure on Burrows' height, Otter? I'll be honest, I've not stood next to him in person so I don't know (I'm 6'2), but Scout and Rivals have him listed at 6'0 and ESPN has him at 6'2. Whatever the case, I reckon they're both still gonna grow anyway. otterbeinbuckeye wrote: Burrows is 5'11 and not known for his hitting ability. Yeah Bosa is one of those guys that will be interesting to follow and see what position ideally ends up suiting him/team best in college. I suppose I could just go look at your guys class, but I'd rather talk to fans and see what they think. So who all do you guys got coming in that will be playing DE?

Yeah Bell is a pure safety from day 1. His skill set is so impressive that he's gonna be able to get on the field this year. His tackling ability is a major plus especially with the youth that will be at LB. Urban has already brought in the talent that can shut teams down on the defensive side of the ball

Noah Spence is gonna take over Simon's spot even though he's only a sophomore. Who's on the other side will be a mystery. Could be Michael Bennett but i'm not sure. SeVon Pittman should hopefully make the progress and get on the field sometime this year on DE

Future matchups with OSU's DL vs Mich's OL should be some very good wars in the trenches ! What would you guys rather have if you were a head football coach and in control. An elite Oline and an average Dline or an Elite Dline and an average Oline? What do you think helps win more football games and why? Or do you think they are equally important? And yes the trenches battle will be awesome to watch moving forward. I love the trenches and I love a good solid defensive team. Not really a fan of Oregon's style of play. Don't like that 3-3-5 defense they play, though this year they had Dion Jordan as a Joker/Nickle so it was more of an honest front rather then when Michigan tried to do it defensively with Rich Rod.

He is 5'11 on OSU's roster and school rosters aren't known for saying someone is shorter than they are. His length comes from his long arms.
