why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
that all the talent needed is right here in Ohio ... 2002 NC team had an offensive line mostly all Ohio ... We should have offered some other kids from Ohio instead of chasing around these other slim chance oos kids ... when will we learn ...

i'll trust the guys who get paid to win. Urban was coach of the decade, lets just wait before passing judgement.

Re: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
I assume you don't mean Pocic (Illinois) and I assume you are talking OL. If Meyer doesn't feel they're good enough then they're not. We lost 1 contributing OL this year, will sign 2 and 2 others that could be OL when it's said and done. We'll sign 3 or 4 next year. The only real OL concern is who are our 2014 starts. --------------------------------------------- --- computerbuck wrote: that all the talent needed is right here in Ohio ... 2002 NC team had an offensive line mostly all Ohio ... I think we'll pass. If we don't use all of our scholarships, then give it to a walk on senior and you'll have it again next year.

Computerbuck, welcome back! Where have you been? I guess we'll be seeing a lot of new threads on the offensive linemen from Ohio again... computerbuck wrote: that all the talent needed is right here in Ohio ...

One thing you can count on every year at this time is computerbuck freaking out about OSU losing Ohio guys, mainly OL. You'd think he'd settle down after how many years? Nope. Wouldn't be the same without him.

Re: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
No one is obligated to play for Ohio State just because they were born in our borders. Same with Michigan kids or Pennsylvania kids. They don't owe this program anything. We have to get them to want to come here just like every other recruit. And Ohio State is not obligated to offer a kid just because he is born in these borders. They have to have D-1 talent and fit in the system. I dont know where the hell people get these ideas. computerbuck wrote: that all the talent needed is right here in Ohio ...

Re: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
Probably from the fact that this is the first Buckeyes recruiting class in recent memory that will be comprised of more OOS kids than in-state kids. Ohio is a football state and always has been.... that's part of what makes our program special (look at Bama's OOS recruiting over the years if you have any questions...) Again, for a guy who calls himself 'truebuckeye', you sure don't seem to have much of a clue on what it actually means to be truly a Buckeye. What is it? do you just like the uniform colors? truebuckeye99 wrote: No one is obligated to play for Ohio State just because they were born in our borders. I missed computerbuck. Just look at the hit our program took by not offering Nate Cadogan.

Re: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
1. We haven't had our 'clocks cleaned' by an SEC team in 6 years. In fact, the last SEC team we played, we beat... with mostly Ohio born talent. 2. It wasn't the lack of talent that cost us in the 2006 and 2007 NCGs... it was poor preparation... and the two teams that beat us were also coached by Ohio-born and bred coaches. marlew45 wrote: computerbuck wrote: that all the talent needed is right here in Ohio ...

Cooper went with allot of OOS kids and most the good Ohio Kids went to Michigan . That worked out great

Re: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
Not sure exactly how to interpret your post (serious or sarcasm... but I'm leaning towards sarcasm), but FWIW, Coop did have a lot of talented players on his teams from both in and out of state. For all of his recruiting acumen though, he was a perfect example of a guy who couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag when it truly counted. RE: why are we still not asking Ohio kids ... when will we learn
this is an annual thread on this board from this poster. I wonder how many Ohio offers it would take for you to be happy? serious question.
I love Ohio high school football as much as the next guy but I wont try to act like I know the guys Urban and co are recruiting arent good enough just because they arent from Ohio. In fact I think the opposite is true. If these guys are good enough to pull Urbans eyes away from Ohio kids... well they must be pretty good.
