Re: Hopefully Billy Price or Donovan Munger can play OL

What I'm worried about is that we tried to get so many, but failed. The 12 OL class was Urban's work, Warriner seems to have wiffed. Can't afford to do that two years in a row.

I have talked to this kid and I am sure he is willing to do whatever it takes for the good of the team and will give 110%. He is a very respectful young man and has a good head on his shoulders.

Some say Billy Price could end up at Center

RE: Hopefully Billy Price or Donovan Munger can play OL

Nick Richardson, the 11th ranked OT for Scout in 2014 is another, he gets a Buckeye offer, all done, he is OSU bound.
You could easily have Trout, Jones and Richardson, in and then take 3 national elites or maybe on JUCO to enroll early.
OSU is the big big leader for Jamarco Jones, he is visiting OSU for the 5th time the second weeknd of February, and his mom has been to OSU with him several times as well.
Mustipher will be visitng for his 4th time as well, and he is an OSU lean.
OL will be no issue after the 14 class, and still considering an elite stud like Chase Farris at 6' 6" and 300 moved to OL last year and excelled and has 3 years to go, he will be a two year starter in the end.
You have a hall of fame coach with two national titles, who dominated the SEC, relax.
Meyer started one Pouncey out on the DL, then back to OL, and he was a first round NFL pick.
Meyer also started Patchan out on the DL for the 2008 national title team, and then back to OL, he knows what he's doing.

Re: Hopefully Billy Price or Donovan Munger can play OL

Heres the good news.  Boren and Elfein will be slotted at Center 14,15...then Elfein in 16. We have 3 Centers right now the coaches wouldn't even think twice about playing...very very good news.  The Center position is very good and very deep for 13,14,15...

I am not worried about OG.  Price and Munger can play OG.  Farris and Baldwin have moved over from DL. I think Hale can as well. The problem is talking Joel into doing it.

We will be fine. We may still get an OT late...you never know with Urban. Next year we will take 5-6 OL. IMO Trout is a Buckeye and we already have Jones locked up.

Only 5 OL usually play a time...The Center position is golden for the next 3-4 years...the other 4 positions just need depth.

Re: Hopefully Billy Price or Donovan Munger can play OL

The staff offered six O-Linemen this year:

Evan Lisle
Tim Gardner
Dorian Johnston
David Dawson
Dan Skipper
Cameron Hunt

They landed two of the six.
THey seemed to prefer to get three OL this year, instead of two, the entire time, as they wanted Dorian Johnston to be their 3rd (and then Dawson, and then Skipper, and then Hunt).

If they wanted three all along, then they should have offered more than six total.
Need to stretch out the offers a little more (earlier in the year) in recruiting O-Linemen.  Need to get in on them earlier.

According to the other thread (2014 OLs), there are already 3 times as many offers out to OL for 2014 as there were for this year.  With a HC and staff as good as OSU has, I cannot help but conclude that the plan all along was to take fewer OL this year and more next year due to evaluation of the talent available, a desire to balance out the classes, or some other factor.  These notions by a certain UM fan that Meyer struck out this year don't seem to add up to me.

It's called wishful thinking.  If you are a Michigan fan that's all you got.

First you say we are very fortunate to have Gene Smith as our AD and now this. You have lost all relevance. You are in the experto category. That's hard to do. Well done.

This is perhaps the stupidest post I have read on here in quite some time. Last year's OL class was all UM's work, b/c it made you happy, this year it is the OL coaches fault, b/c UM suddenly gave him complete responsibility for recruiting OL, making decisions on who to offer, visiting recruits and doing all the stuff that UM does on the recruiting trail! Have enough guts to admit you are actually whining about UM's recruiting!!!!!

"Pro style" is an out of date description. Actual "pro style" as in like the pros is one back, WR like TEs, passing 30-40+ times a game, hurry up no huddle, and various other spread concepts.

Problem with offensive line recruiting is not the offense you run it's your O-Line coach. While he is a very good coach, he is an average (At best) recruiter.

Problem with you is you're a fool.

Ed Warriner got 2 out of the 4 OL he was recruiting (Lisle and Gardener), and one of those other 2 was already committed elsewhere when he started his recruitment.... plus, he also had a hand in getting Eli Apple and Billy Price.
