Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
Since S&M had a big thread on EzE taking a visit to Mizzou, I figured I would return the favor. Henry Poggi, UM's highest rated recruit on rivals, will be making an official visit to Alabama this weekend and the Michigan board is in full meltdown mode. The thing is, Poggi was just at Alabama last week for an unofficial visit.

Re: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
It's hard to tell if this is really his dad, but he did make a tweet on Jan 12th The game has changed. Recruiting is a continuous process. It must be a process # sec and then this one last night Until the # Big 10 learns to recruit like the # SEC it will be an irrelevant conference. Good news for # Ohio State I think it is him because I had heard absolutely nothing about Poggi looking around until today and the tweet goes back to 2 weeks ago. Not sure who would make a fake twitter profile of a recruits dad randomly either. The guy is also followed by members of the Poggi family and the twitter account for the high school team his son plays for him...I think it's the real deal.

The huge issue I have with the statement above in red, is that the BIG is trying to recruit better, hence recruiting his son. Then the kid sees the more appealing school and jumps ship. It's tough to improve as a program when the kids with premier talent don't want to be a leader on a team. The disclaimer here is that I really have no clue about the kid because we didn't recruit him, and it's scUM, not Indiana, so there is still talent there, but seriously, the father's comments are a broad stroke, and a little unwarranted. Hope the kid finds the right fit for him.

I saw a funny post on there message board from one of there fans that "Ohio State and Michigan will both win a national championship in the next 4 years."

Re: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
I'd be interested to know what "recruit like the SEC" means.
It's a heck of a lot easier to recruit the SEC, when you're smack dab in the most fertile recruiting ground in the country.

I hate to say it but it looks like the kid is going to the SEC. He will regret it when he has to transfer next year to open up scholorships. That wouldnt have happened up north.

I don't want Ohio State to play in an irrelevant conference. I want all Big Ten teams to recruit as well as possible. Besides, the stronger the conference the easier it is to land elite recruits.

RE: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
I believe if it's a "continious process" like he says do not commit to a university until National signing day. Just a case of another parent who seems to enjoy the recruiting process a little more than steering his son to the right program.

RE: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
Dunno if those tweets are actually from Coach Poggi, but you'll see the late flip more and more from recruits.
They'll verbally commit to hold their spot, then flip later on.
Its really the best leverage the recruit has during the process

Need an August 1st early signing period to minimize some of this stuff.

Wisconsin losing Bielma really destroyed their class and lost a chance on that 5 star RB collins and lost Tyler Foreman to UCLA

Re: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
It means recruit like the $EC. For the record, I think the tweets are bogus. I don't think a recruit would slam his current school before officially decommting or commiting to another school. BuckinDayton wrote: I'd be interested to know what "recruit like the SEC" means.

I thought we all had to recruit under the same rules minus oversigning. Whats up here, SEC?

Re: Henry Poggi not going to Michigan?
I could care less where the kid goes but if its a blow to Michigan I will take it by all means.
I am a Buckeye fan and really don't care how anyone in the B10 recruits or plays...MSU is about the only exception because their success means Michigan failure plus I like Dantonio.
With the 4 team playoff coming I could care less. We take care of our business and we will get our shot to prove we belong.

I hope that Poggi goes to Alabama and Michigan's class falls apart. I hate Michigan. It is my hope that our Buckeyes annihilate them every year. I can assure you that no Michigan fan is rooting for Urban Meyer to land a solid class. As long as the Buckeyes take care of business, there is no need to worry about the rest of the conference. THEY DON'T WORRY ABOUT OSU. Most of them(especially Michigan, PSU, and Wisconsin) were wishing for the NCAA to place OSU on probation.

Nobody else is hoping we succeed in any way, shape, or form so it only comes with the territory to root against them the way they all root against us. Those were the main teams praying for our demise...including Michigan State

We don't need scUM in any way, shape or form. We can be, and have been, an elite program regardless of them. They are irrelevant to us other than one game a year. I want them to be as pathetic as they have been over the last decade. Here's to hoping they lose as many good recruits as possible.
