Scholarship update: we have zero open scholarships for 2013.

Scholarship update: we have zero open scholarships for 2013. 

In previous years, I've updated a thread like this. By my count, Ohio State has 82 scholarships committed for 2013, and we therefore currently have one scholarship available.

Please send along corrections if I'm wrong about any of this.

82 Scholarships Committed

2013 Seniors: C.J. Barnett, Drew Basil, Corey Brown, Corey Brown, Christian Bryant, Chris Fields, Kenneth Guiton, Jordan Hall, Marcus Hall, Carlos Hyde, Corey Linsley, Jack Mewhort, Andrew Norwell (13)

2013 Juniors: Darryl Baldwin, Michael Bennett, Curtis Grant, Doran Grant, Adam Griffin, Joel Hale, Jeff Heuerman, Braxton Miller, Steve Miller, J.T. Moore, Bradley Roby, Ryan Shazier, Corey Smith, Devin Smith, Roderick Smith, Evan Spencer, Antonio Underwood (17)

Add that up: 13+17+20+9+23= 82 scholarships committed, which means at this point in time we have two scholarships currently available.

Good info. I am wondering who the status is of Jordan hall. Heard much about an additional year but things quited down. As far as attrition, one would assume more kids would have left by now. We may have to wait for spring or fall practices.

Wow, we have a really young team. If we can add Bell and find room for Gibson and call it a recruiting class.... I will be happy.

Jordan Hall was a redshirt senior last year - a bit unusual, but he apparently didn't play enough to burn a year and was granted another year of eligibility.

Cardale Jones is the redshirt freshman qb's last name, not Scott.

If its true we only have ONE spot left, it has to go to Vonn Bell....OSU safety is a position of weakness and Bell could be an answer. If you look at the elite defenses, they all have great play at FS/SS....think Reid, Elam, etc............

5th year seniors last season were from the 2008 recruiting class. Jordan Hall was in the 2009 class.

i got blasted by a couple of posters when i ran the numbers and suggested there is only 1 more spot, and that it is reserved for Bell. Unless there are defections (which I expect), there are no more spots for all of these other prospects that people are claiming exist RIGHT NOW. we probably take Gibson and let the process play out, but I dont see hiw we take bell, gibson, elder, timmons, and worley and end up with a class of 26. The class will be 23 tops. Elder, timmons, and worley should just go ahead and look elsewhere at this point.

my guess is the coaches are confident that there will be at two more leave the program, so they could take Bell, Worley and Gibson.

If they are aware of more than 2 who are going to leave, or if they miss on one of the three listed, they could add a WR or OL.

Long history of Medical Issues that added up with him not being able to compete and practice the way he'd like.

I knew he had been hurt but had not heard that he decided to stop playing

A few people will leave naturally guaranteed. I mean, we have over 6 months before we have to be at 82. An off season without multiple departures would be extremely abnormal. 

On next year looks like we will start with 15 (13 seniors plus likely Roby and Shazier departures) should end up about 20.
