We only have one true, guaranteed LB in this class and that is Deoundrei Davis, a blue chip prospect in his own right. Naashon Hughes could play one of many positions for us including OLB, but if he stays on defense it will likely be at SDE but there is a lot of talk that he will make a move to TE. He's a tall kid with a wide frame who could easily be up to 6'5 240+ by his soph. season. His brother is a 6'7 320 freshman OT at Texas so size runs in the family.
Mitchell was never a MLB prospect for us. He's not a typical Big XII MLB and doesn't fit anything we have done at that position for years and even if he did, we for the first time in a long time, have a very nice depth chart in the middle (see Dalton Santos from last year's class who fits our MLB mold and showed tremendous promise as a true freshman this year behind a damn good true soph). Mitchell would be a pass rusher for us playing both standing up on the outside and with his hand in the dirt (similar to the way we used Jeffcoat and Okafor this year and Kindle, Orakpo, etc. in years past). Problem is that we signed 8 kids in the past two classes that fit that bill. While pass rushers are kinda like good DBs and WRs, you can never have enough, when ships are tight sometimes you have to put a position of strength on the back burner to address positions of need, especially if those needs are glaring and our needs on the OL are just that.
