The longhorns truly are stupid. The last 2 heisman winners are from within their own recruiting grounds. They just need to open their eyes a little more down there in Austin.

Yup! There's a reason they've fallen on hard times the last few years.

Yeah I stand correct. Just checked texas scout page and there is no mention of mike at all. That fanbase is so delusional they think Urban would leave just to go coach there....did I miss something? How is the longhorns better than the bucks at anything except all time wins? Last I remember we have more heismans and championships...they also think they are too valuable and too great to be in the Big 10

We have a very limited number of scholarships to offer this year and Mitchell was not at a position of need. You'll note of our 13 commits we have just 1 LB and/or DE in this class and 5 OLs or TEs and we're hoping to land at least 1 more OT and a DT before signing day. That is where our need is, especially in a small class where every take has to fill a very specific need. It sucks but sometimes that's the way it is. It's a numbers game.

thanks coop, you have always been a insightful and classy poster,i was trying to say,it must be a great problem to have when you can pass on MM because you have other needs, and small numbers, your in-state rivals don't seem to mind, good luck next season. You think you guys will ever play AM again?I hope so.

Coop, If you guys would have joined the SEC you would have an unlimited amount of scholarships to offer.

Yep,

Texas A&M's entire roster 40 times improved by a tenth of a second just for joining the SEC.

Texas had Swoopes rated higher than Barrett and like Coop said, LB and DE needs were filled very early on in their class. Surprised that Mitchell didn't look harder at Oklahoma. That said, the A&M resurrection isn't going put a dent in TX recruiting, but it could really damage OU recruiting moving forward.

i think Mike seeing the Boren and Klien filled hole, combined with top coaching, is too much to pass up.

Swoopes was rated higher on physical measurables, but he's a high risk, high reward type.  He played in a lower division, and his throwing is a work in progress.   He's the project Texas can afford to gamble on, because they know there will be a few solid qb's every year from Tx.

they are hoping for another vince young.

I know it was only 1 game. but i was not impressed by Swoopes performance. Glad we got Barrett instead.
Attention: We are now boarding Champions.

Yeah the A&M offense is very pass heavy, and puts up big yardage. combine with a Freshman Heisman, and Wr's see starting there as an NFL ticket.  Pro Scouts should realize that it's the system and not the personell

I agree that Swoopes is not that polished, but if the risk pays off, the rewards could be huge. He has some freaky athletic ability. I was not dissing Barrett. In fact, I love his game. He doesn't do one thing super great, but seems very consistent and smooth at all aspects of the QB position. Not a lights out Braxton type, but seems more like a better Kenny Guiton if that makes sense.

Mitchell has 4 brothers after him who are all great athletes in their age group apparently. Texas should have offered him if even just for future markets.

I have heard that in Texas there is some concern as to the weak teams he faced his high school career. That said if his forty time is in the 4.4 range and his size he is going to be a good one.
