Re: We are far from done.....

You go after them because they would help. The post I responded to said Urban will HAVE to start getting these OOS 5 star WRs. Simply not true. Ohio is producing a 5 star WR this year and one next year. Ohio produced TG2 and Mario Manningham in the mid 2000s. OSU can have top end WR talent just by landing the best in state wideouts. We could win an NC every year and never get an OOS 5 star wideout.

so why go after diggs/quick/foster types if we have that type of talent in ohio, just saying?

Ouick would have been great---however, I'm not losing any sleep over his choice. He wants to be a home town hero--nothing wrong with that. Welcome aboard Gibson, (please) who I believe is excellent and will rise to the occasion. Marshall and the rest will be excellent. Let's go get a NC.

have to somewhat disagree, when was the last time the state of ohio produce a top 10 5star wr that every school in the country wanted??OHIO has never lacked oline,rb,db and linebacker talent, but blue-chip 5star wr talent??

Devier Posey is the last one I can think of.

Marshall this year. Posey 5 star top 5 WR in 2008. Since 2004 Ohio has produced TG2, Mario manningham, Devier Posey, Jalin Marshall and Marshon Lattimore. That is 5 Blue chip WR prospects in the last 10 years in Ohio. What would you find acceptable? A 5 star WR in Ohio every year? What schools get a 5 star WR every year? USC? Maybe?

I don't think we have enough room for all of those players.
+1, we only have 2 or 3 spots left. If Quick would of chose OSU, Gibson would of likely been out.

IF Worley and Bell commit then we only have room for 1 more and that is a stretch

Maker84 wrote: Urbans offense this season didn't throw down the field much and in some games OSU rarely threw and the Michigan game was a great example of that. First drive Michigan didn't have a chance because OSU used playaction and threw down the field to expose their slow secondary, after that idk if they did it again and the offense struggled. Just too conservative. Players like James Quick and Stephon Diggs wanna play in offenses that use your receivers more in pass catching situations like a Louisville. If Urbans offense threw down the field more then he could have landed Quick
I don't think there is anything the Buckeyes could have done different to get Quick. As long as Strong stayed at Louisville, there was no way this young man was leaving his hometown team.

Yeah I know we don't have enough room for all of them, that's why I said "any of these we can take with the scholarships left over"

Maryland is God awful! I bet on a few of their' games this year. Their' offense is as atrocious as atrocious can get. They had no QB depth that they had to convert a linebacker to play QB. Randy Edsall is way over his head because with exception of a few talented players they absolutely stink

Still got:

1. Vonn Bell  FS
2. S. Gibson  WR
3. C. Elder    ATH  Love this kid  = true playmaker with speed/quicks/moves
4. R. Timmons ATH  another playmaker, probably no room
5. C. Worley  OLB/S  6'3'', 190  reminds of D. Lee Star/OLB/S, if Bell commits don't think there would be room?

Love to get the first 3

being that since 2004 ohio has produced about 700+ d1 football players and only 4-5 have been 5star wr types,i would say we might have to look outside of ohio in the future for those type of players.

What I don't see a lot of coming out of OH are the big receivers like Ricky Seals-Jones.  Has UM used this type of receiver in the past?

Ty williams jake stoneburner And the receiver that went to louisville and fred davis....... say hi. Tall wrs are at a distinct disadvantage which is why you dont see very many. The last thing a buckeye fan should be worried about is a super tall wr.

Forgive me, because I can't follow recruiting like I used to, but I was reading through the Rivals positional rankings and I noticed that their #2 WR was uncommited but he's listing Ohio State has a high possibility.  His name is Marquez North, but I can't recall hearing his name mentioned much. What's the story with him?  Why wouldn't we want him over Gibson?

Marquez North

Re: We are far from done.....

Ohio produces about five 5-star players per year on average (there are only 50 in the whole country, per year).  That's 50 over 10 years, of which five (10%) have been WR.  That's exactly what I would expect.  How is that different than any other position?

Judging by peoples reactions to the OP, when did people become so sensitive? I always laugh at the people who try to bring down a poster because they might have posted something a little "edgy".

There is no room for Worley, Timmons, or elder. They should all look elsewhere. Plus its not like we need them anyway. We have other prospects already in the fold that are much better.

We have room for Bell and possibly Gibson if Bell doesnt commit.

2014 recruiting wish list
1. Kyle Allen
2. Jamarco Jones
3. Raekwon McMillan
