Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
The 14' class in Ohio is much thinner in terms of top level talent than it has been in many years, going back to 10' at least. Lattimore,Jones,Booker,Snodgrass(grades?), and probably a couple other OL are the only sure offers. Hopefully some new names/new tape emerge in the spring.

Ummm, deshone kizer, the safety out of massilon, and some ballers in the cinci area, which is why Urban wants to have the soring game in cinci. There are some studs in the area he doesnt want to lose to ND or Mich. there is as much talent this year in Ohio as any other year. Players like darien watkins wont even get an offer for OSU but could easily be a gamechanger for another school.
2014 recruiting wish list 1. Kyle Allen 2. Jamarco Jones 3. Raekwon McMillan

Re: Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
Our '14 class is going to be limited in size (last year of 82 limit), so even if there were limited top flight Ohio guys, that wouldn't be a huge problem.
I hope the '15 and '16 classes are good, because we'll be back at full strength with large classes.

RE: Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
Insiders have said the top end talent level in Ohio is way down this year. Lowest in a decade. Not a lot of kids will get tOSU offers. Won't see many 5 or 4* players like in the past.

A weak overall Ohio class is bad news for Michigan, not for us. We just need to grab:
Jones - Already Did Lattimore Booker Trout Snodgrass Whitfield and maybe James.
We're sitting pretty for all of them too.

Re: Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
It IS a weak year for top end talent in the state, anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves.
The poster above me nailed who we need to get.
We also are going to have a small class, and that will work in our favor in state.
Its really gonna hurt Michigan quite a bit I do think

^^^^what these guys said. The dip in talent will hurt the leaches like scUM and ND. We'll get who we want from Ohio and fill in the gaps with OOS recruits.

Re: Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
Rivals just put out a new 2014 class of Ohio ranking. Obviously it's very early and things can change, but I thought it was interesting that the top rated players seem to be clustered at a few different positions. The top of the list is full of WRs, OL, and LBs (which luckly for us happen to be our biggest needs). Then theres a few DBs and RBs sprinkled in after those top guys. DL seems to be a weakness, with none listed in the top 25. Here's the list OhioPreps Class of 2014: Top 75

I know that Notre Dame prefers to recruit the South and Southeastern part of the country, plus California, Arizona, Texas, and the East Coast.

How many do they recruit from Ohio vs. their home state?

Didn't tOSU get OLB David Perkins from South Bend, Ind. in the Class of 2012?

Re: Ohio 14' class is somewhat weak...
You do realize that we hand out more offers than we can accept commitments from, right? The mere fact that the staff had enough interest in guys like Ferns and Byrne do not belie Zman's claim that we will get who we want from Ohio.
