Again, I agree.  I apparnetly didn't come off complimentary enough of Jalin, he looks like a great recruit.  Harvin was pretty unique...

I would obviously take a Percy Harvin talent over all, but there isn't even one of those guys nationally every year. Just like people act like Ted Ginns come around often... they just aren't in the crop of HS talent every year.

If we get Quick, great, but I think it's much more important that we get an OL, a S, and another LB (or two.)

I think we are set at skill guys on the offensive side.  I'm still excited to see what Warren Ball can do -i think he has the highest ceiling at RB.  I'd toy w/the idea of making Elliot a WR -he looks like another who could change positions.

Meyer makes these comments far to often as you will find out

From all the talk about Jalin Marshall's ability and elusiveness and lack of elite speed he sounds to me like he may be a Peter Warrick type of player. That would be awesome as well.

Much better comparision IMHO.  Harvin ran something like 10.46 100m in high school.  Warrick didn't and Marshall doesn't possess that top end speed, but both had/have that explosive first step, the ability to cut on a dime and juke you out of your socks like Harvin IMO.

I would value a Ted Ginn recruit as mucn as a Harvin type.  Ginn was the most explosive buckeye I seen with my eyes.

Harvin's early resume suggests he's not easy to replace, in 2001 national midget 4x100 relay champion, 2000 national pop warner championship, 4 state records 5 medals in track in finals meet or something his junior year, won in Long Jump (Jalin did also) but also 100 meter dash.

I don't think explosive means what you think it means.

IMHO Joey Galloway > Ginn Jr.   But Ginn Jr, sure was fun to watch and one certainly couldn't dispute the above comment about Ginn.   Well within reason.

I think what made Ginn so memorable, and perhaps even moreso than Galloway, was that you could tell when he was going to score even if it was 70 yards from the endzone.   He would get that "lean forward" to him and when you saw that you knew he saw it and he just put it into 9th gear and it was over.

Warrick is probably a fair comparison. Marshall's best 200M is 23.07, his best long jump 23f, and his best high jump 6'8. I don't think we have to worry about LBs constantly catching him from behind.......

There's a certain kind of reassuring white rock....and some people do well with that.....

I agree wholeheartedly about the peter warrick comparison. Marshalls elusiveness and strength is unmatched!

2. Jamarco Jones
3. Raekwon McMillan

Jalin's solid, but the expectations are a bit too high. Warrick's style is different as well, he's more rambly.

You are probably right about galloway being more explosive than ginn but ginn demanded more of a double team and still couldn't be covered.  As far as pure explosiveness galloway looked like ben johnson running the hundred.

Someone mentioned (clarett one of my favorites) but he was not explosive in a way of galloway or ginn but he was one of the most complete players to come in to osu. Man, what could have been.

RE: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin Marsha

When people say that Jalin Marshall is Meyer's Ohio State version of Percy Harvin, they don't mean that Marshall is Harvin. What they mean is that Marshall fits the role of the playmaker hybrid flex position that Harvin popularized.

For some reason this always flies over people's heads and this turns into a pissing contest, which completely misses the point.

I would like to see Meyer continue to tailor the scheme to personnel, I hope Carlos Hyde proved to Meyer that power running is a nice thing also. We don't have to be an imitation of Florida, we can be what works given our talent. Florida does provide a nice framework though.

He has put a pretty high value on power running seeing the use of Hyde and the recruitment of Dunn. He and Herman have also discussed using the power running game several times as well.
