After comparing Marshall's highlight vids to James Quick, Marshall has a much higher ceiling imo. He's more elusive, and he's more physical. The only unknown is whether he can be consistent enough at a new position, whereas Quick plays WR, -but I have a feeling Marshall is that rare type that will make it a smooth transition.
If we get Quick, great, but I think it's much more important that we get an OL, a S, and another LB (or two.)
I think we are set at skill guys on the offensive side. I'm still excited to see what Warren Ball can do -i think he has the highest ceiling at RB. I'd toy w/the idea of making Elliot a WR -he looks like another who could change positions.

Ball has to stay healthy in order to have any ceiling. Hopefully he can come back at 100%, but we'll have to wait and see.

of all the studs we have coming in or have a shot to bring in, im most excited to see jalin marshall and what he can do. i think he is a guy that given space will do some damage. i dont know if anyone on the horizon will be percy harvin (really, how many first round nfl prospects come alone each year) but i think he can be great for this offense.

RE: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin Marsha
Yeah, Marshall is definitely a RB/WR hybrid at the next level, but he's not as fast or explosive as Harvin (few are) or Teddy Ginn. Those two were once in a decade type talents that you have on a team. Marshall is still pretty darn explosive and elusive. He has good size and strength too, though vertically I don't think he'll stretch the field as well as those two aforementioned.
Elliot can play some of that hybrid role as well. He is a heck of a back who can move to the slot and catch the ball if need be ala Jordan Hall (except he actually has breakaway speed!)

Urban Meyer is going to make play makers out of both Marshall / Elliott The Spread will utilize both to keep defenses guessing. Going to be great to have such weapons on the Offense. Will be revolutionary for TOSU

Marshall and Elliot are already big time playmakers. This class has 5 playmakers already on the offensive side. I think Coach would love to add two more and really change the numbers.

Marshall is a great player but he's not comparable to Harvin, Harvin was much quicker and a legit 4.4 guy. Marshall isn't as quick but more elusive and smooth.

I agree that Marshall could be exciting and is an amazing athlete, but he does not have Harvin's speed. Elliot, however...

Re: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin
Marshall may develop into a good player but he has nothing remotely resembling Harvins speed and elusiveness. They aren't built similarly and they do not perform alike. Harvin stepped on the field as a true Freshman with his abilituies. In fact, it was the combo of Harvin AND rtebow that made Tebow so successful. When harvin left a year early for the pros, the team with all the other NFL players returning on both sides of the ball delivered 20 PPG less and won games close before the Bama SEC title game. This also coincides with Meyer's meltdown. Bottom line is Florida had a lot of great players but Harvin was the spark that made them unstoppable. Marshall isn't showing that type of ability... Re: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin
Quick is one of the most important and needed recruits this year. We need playmakers like him. We got one hybrid guy in Jalin, we got a rb in EzE...both are going to be electric. Now we need WRs. Quick, Jacobs and Gibson would be awesome they're all needed badly.

Marshall isn't Harvin, few players are, but you don't have to be a once in a generation talent to be a great college player. When I look at Marshall's film and watch him play live, I see a potentially great player. Great open field moves, good speed, supposed makes the catches when he went to camps. So yeah, not Harvin, but you don't need to be.

Of course there is only one. I think people realize that. Are people really aloof to the fact that mentioning the "Percy Harvin role" simply means using someone in the same fashion??

Re: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin
Marshall runs more like Braxton Miller, imo. The most "dynamic" athlete Urban has ever coached according to him. so I'll take it. I would obviously take a Percy Harvin talent over all, but there isn't even one of those guys nationally every year. Just like people act like Ted Ginns come around often... they just aren't in the crop of HS talent every year. 1984gator wrote: Marshall may develop into a good player but he has nothing remotely resembling Harvins speed and elusiveness. RE: Meyer already landed his P. Harvin. His name is Jalin Marsha
yeah, I always considered Marshall as being like having two Braxtons on the field at the same time, only one has a better arm and is more polished as a QB. It should be fun to see those two on the field together.

Yes, I watched his game film. Again, he may turn into a great college player but the Harvin comparison is wrong.... RipAndRattle wrote: Lmao, do you know who the hell you are talking about?
