Good luck at OSU Gareon! I'm not defending how some people here treated an 18 year old kid who is making one of the biggest decisions of life but Kalis did bail on the program when things got rocky and didn't even wait for things to shake out. That is what angered so many people. Had he just switched like Conley did, the reaction would not have been as severe. If Kalis had "switched" the way Conley did I think he probably would have gotten worse. Kalis jumped ship in a timely manner while Conley tried to do things behind the coaches back and held the scholarship hostage for weeks. Kalis was a shock to many while Conley leaving has been expected for awhile now. Kalis reconfirmed his commitment, said he was going to recruit for OSU and then jumped ship. Are you saying that was any more above board than Conley telling tsun he was going to take visits? Kalis switch was a shock because he told everyone he was going to OSU.
Arguing that a proposition is true because belief in it has good consequences, or that it is false because belief in it has bad consequences is often an irrelevancy.

The outcome for Kalis so far: 1. Hated traitor versus hometown hero 2. Riding the pine 3. 8-4 versus 10-0 4. 0-1 in the Game and counting 5. Another recruting class coming in heavily loaded with interior linemen to take his job 6. Yaba daba do as his coach Good choice, big fella

Re: Conley is reported to have commited to OSU!!!!!!
I was under the impression that we offered Conley specifically to play on offense which was a big reason for his switch. Why is everyone assuming he is defense only?

TroySmithFan wrote: So I'm seeing a lot about "offer lists". While offer lists are usually a pretty good indicator of the level of a prospect, they aren't always a good representation of potential. Roby this year was a Vanderbilt commit, now he's a 1st team all B1G.
I think back to guys like Malcolm Jenkins and Dane Sanzenbacher, even JL who had little press before making huge impacts here. Unless you get total freaks like TP, recruiting is all about getting the right personalities and skill set for your program. If he was a late bloomer in high school it probably reflects in his offers. If Urban wants him, that is good enough for me.

There aren't many two-way players out there anymore. So you are saying he's going to be another Chris Gamble? Or is this just a guess?

Not another Chris Gamble but I guy that will be looked at from both sides of the field (IMO again). He is a legit two-way player and Urban will evaluate whether he plays O, D or both and this maybe an ongoing process. Some of the decision will be based on need and too early to tell where that will be until recruiting is done and the players get onto the field next summer.

Probably saying he doesn't have to be put into a position while he is still in high school. When he gets to campus the staff can determine where he fits best. It would be stupid to recruit someone for one position only as opposed to letting him compete where he might be needed or fit better. mho.

Along with playing special teams (doesn't matter if you O or D if you have the speed).

Cool. Thanks for the thoughts guys. I'm just wondering where this kid will end up. Looks like he has some great possibilities!

Re: Conley is reported to have commited to OSU!!!!!!
I'm pretty sure he's reported that the coaching staff told him to learn both positions. I don't think that means he will play both ways (extremely rare), but they still want to see where he best fits. He could play either well.

Good luck at OSU Gareon! naaaaah, braaaaah. you shouldn't, precisely because he's not a traitor. when you're leeching, the proper mindset is to be not just happy, but positively thrilled with whatever you're able to weasel.

Actually no one said much about Kali's until he started running his mouth, he did not present himself as a classy kid
