Always nice to see an Ohio kid stay in his home state, but I'm still puzzled why the buzz for this young man has been so strong.

He's reportedly a 165 lb. CB, with a very average offer sheet and a three star rating (I know, I know - the stars mean nothing).  Just curious if he's had a major upswing in performance during his senior year to garner interest from OSU ??

We have limited scholarships to work with, some great DB's already in this class and we're hurting more at LB and OL.  Was it more important to pull him away from Michigan, than it was to actually have him as part of the class ?? noidea
Doubt it was just to get him away from Michigan. OSU is pretty thin at CB and this kid is apparently very raw but athletic. Similar to Roby in that you redshirt him but he has a lot of potential. There should still be room for 2 LBs, a WR, and an OL.

He's rated highly on scout and espn if that makes you feel better.  He's 6'2" with long arms.  That is rare for a corner.  He had offers from tOSU, scUM, and would've gotten one from Oregon if he visited.  Not really average to me.  Pay more attention

#62 in the ESPN Top 300. Guess it depends on who you place the most weight on, recruiting wise. Great get, anytime you make your opponent weaker it's not a bad thing.

Re: Conley is reported to have commited to OSU!!!!!!

Pay more attention - to you ??  Pass ....  It's interesting that Rivals has him pegged as the #42 CB in the country and the #28 player in the state of Ohio.  I certainly won't question Urban Meyer's take on a kid, but I just found it odd that Rivals sees this kid as average, while ESPN and Fox see him as a much better prospect.

You have to admit, an offer resume from Michigan, Northwestern, Marshall and Cinncinati isn't what I would call star studded.  Like I said, if Urban sees something special in this young man that will help the team - I'm good ....

Still want to see Urban add two quality LB's to the group, a solid receiver and at least one or two top O-Linemen.  Hope we've got the room .....

Good luck at OSU Gareon!
I'm not defending how some people here treated an 18 year old kid who is making one of the biggest decisions of life but Kalis did bail on the program when things got rocky and didn't even wait for things to shake out. That is what angered so many people. Had he just switched like Conley did, the reaction would not have been as severe.

Agree with Burrows moving to Safety. If Bell joins, all the better

Re: Conley is reported to have commited to OSU!!!!!!

So I'm seeing a lot about "offer lists". While offer lists are usually a pretty good indicator of the level of a prospect, they aren't always a good representation of potential. Roby this year was a Vanderbilt commit, now he's a 1st team all B1G.

I think back to guys like Malcolm Jenkins and Dane Sanzenbacher, even JL who had little press before making huge impacts here. Unless you get total freaks like TP, recruiting is all about getting the right personalities and skill set for your program.

Re: Conley is rumored to have commited to OSU!!!!!!

I wasn't suggesting they were melting down over the Conley commit (though I am not ruling that out.   I think they saw that coming.   I was suggesting they would disown Denali for wishing him well.   It was a civil gesture, which is woefully uncommon there...

Huge difference between the two examples, but I welcome your civility in wishing Gareon well.   Don't let the guys on Stadium & Main know.   They'll disown you.

Eh . . . no meltdown there. They think they've got a better corner on the way. Have no idea whether it's wishful thinking or fact-based expectation.

Also, Conley committed pretty early on to the wolverines, so other programs my have chosen not to bother offering.

Hell yeah!!! Our Defensive Backfield and Defensive Line are gonna be absolutely SICK!!! That's not counting Bell in yet because it's unsure if he's coming or not. If Bell becomes a Buckeye then you can just mark it down we got the best DB class in the nation

Re: Conley is reported to have commited to OSU!!!!!!

You do realize that he isn't a 3* right? Or at least he isn't on 3 out of the 4 sites. He isn't a "small" CB by any stretch of the imagination either, and his offer sheet is a result of his situation (injured his junior year, committed to Michigan early so nobody else offered until us).

What he does have is elite athleticism, if he is a bit raw. Ohio recruiting coordinator Bill Greene said that he was the 2nd or 3rd best senior he saw in ohio this year behind Marshall and maybe Thomas. You're selling him way short, with our horrible CB depth, this is a guy Meyer wanted badly.

Congratulations Conley, going from a stinking swampland from a part of Ohio, Ohio didn't want to where you belong, your state university.

he's 165 now but can bulk up ( i see him playing at 185 190) , his length at 6"1' is ideal, had a huge upswing in performance,  espn thinks he's 62 overall in the class

You win some & lose some i thought he would've been a 3 year starter for us.  Both teams will put good talent on the field the next few years.
