Buckeye Defense is going to Amazing for years into the near future. If we can get Mitchell and Johnson that would help put this class over the top. Then on to 2014 class... brutus79 wrote: Be patient, Mitchell is in. Trey Johnson to OSU is in great shape as well, another big time haul of DL and LB's for the second straight year in a row, and three incredible DL classes in a row.

RE: Conley, Mitchell, Munger
Is anyone an ESPN insider? They're reporting Mitchell described his visit as "crazy" and "awesome." Sounds like we're still in a pretty damn good position.

The word is that barring something crazy, he'll be a Buckeye. But this is recruiting, so I never feel confident until the fax comes through.

RE: Conley, Mitchell, Munger
The ESPN story on Mitchell's visit didn't have a ton of info and most of it has been summarized. His Dad said that his sons first two words to describe the visit were crazy and awesome. He spent time with Meyer, went to the Pep Ralley, went to the basketball game, and also toured campus.
Sounds like he loved the visit. I can't think of any recruit in the country I would rather have considering he probably would ice the deal with his brother who is a 2015 top 5 ranked basketball player.

Of the remaining top recruits--how many wait for the Under Armor games or the US Army games where they announce nationally on TV?

Re: Conley, Mitchell, Munger
DEC 9 3:54PM ET By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com Ken Mitchell didn’t hear anything about a commitment to Ohio State from his son, ESPN 150 outside linebacker Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian), following an official visit to Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend. What he did hear was how much fun the 6-foot-4, 216-pound senior had this weekend. “His first two words were 'crazy' and 'awesome,' ” Ken Mitchell said. “The first thing he did when he got there was spend time with Coach [Urban] Meyer. Then he went to the OSU basketball game. He said it was a great time.” According to his father, Ohio State is still very much in the mix and Mitchell has yet to schedule any more official visits after seeing Texas A&M on Oct. 19 and Ohio State from Friday through Sunday. He started the weekend at the pep rally celebrating Ohio State’s 12-0 football season before heading over to Value City Arena for the men’s basketball game against Long Beach State on Saturday. He also had a chance to tour the campus and check in on the academic side of things. Mitchell’s experience has to be good news to Ohio State after linebackers Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyomissing) and Lewis Neal (Wilson, N.C./James B. Hunt) committed, then decommitted to the Buckeyes earlier this year. Those spots at linebacker still haven't been filled. Mitchell’s 4.39-second 40-yard dash makes the SPARQ national champion attractive, as do his 174 tackles, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and two pass break-ups this season. He has Oklahoma and Oregon in the mix along with the Buckeyes and Aggies. As far as when a decision might be made, Ken Mitchell said that obviously will come when his son feels comfortable.

I really thought Mitchell would commit today. I guess 2 outta the 3 will have for do for now. Atleast the drought is over.

No, he wont commit anywhere most likely for another 2 weeks. He has to talk to his father and announce at the right time. With that said, considering we dont have a lb recruit for 2013 and we need LBs, i fully expect mitchell to be a buckeye when it is all said and done. Most everyone else is saying the same thing.
2014 recruiting wish list 1. Andrew Brown 2. Jamarco Jones 3. Raekwon McMillan

RE: Conley, Mitchell, Munger
I wan't Mitchell as much as the next guy. But Sabino and Grant were every bit as coveted as Mitchell is, if not more. People said the same things about them, "They could step right in and start...".
Maybe Mitchell will be different, I hope so.

One thing neither Sabino of Grant have is the athletic superiority that Mitchell possesses even over the best of the best HS players at SPARQ. Special teams monster from day one.

RE: Conley, Mitchell, Munger
Are you looking for jeans models or football players? Mitchell is very raw right now, much like Sabino and Grant, who were #20 overall players. He may pick things up quickly, but even Hawk didn't start until his sophomore year. AJ had a doughy body too, didn't matter because he knew how to play. strandedbuck wrote: One thing neither Sabino of Grant have is the athletic superiority that Mitchell possesses even over the best of the best HS players at SPARQ. You said smaller DT's and used Washington as an example. You apparently were thinking of someome else, because he is a monster and a true sophomore!

Munger really intrigues me... seems like hes an afterthought for most around here... as much as I love the smaller, quicker dts like schutt, washington, hale and maybe even bosa and pittman - theres no denying thr impacy of an immovable object (think Jon Hankins or Shariff Floyd) in the middle of our defensive line... Munger doesnt project to have the same freakish burst as Hank or Floyd, but he presents something different from what we've already got

You just said smaller
