texas am just gets commit #34
they just get verbal from #32 for the year. 4 are enrolling early to go against last yr but pretty good haul by sumlin as stud dt today out of Dallas. Mitchell might only be down to okl and osu if am keeps getting commits.

Re: texas am just gets commit #32
I wonder if any of their commits aren't likely to qualify academically. They probably also have room considering the last time they took a full class was in 09.
Honestly I don't think we have much room to talk considering we took 25 last year, and are looking at 24-25 this year with 3 scholarships taken away each year.

Re: texas am just gets commit #32
Yeah, I was looking at that earlier... huge class the Aggies have. IMO, Mitchell's best chance to play the soonest would be to come to Columbus.
We'd love to have him in Scarlet and Gray.

Re: texas am just gets commit #32
I thought Manning was #33. Jaquay Williams - ex-Auburn WR commit was #32.
They still are high on Mitchell, JC LB Tommy Sanders, Hawaii LB Issac S. and Ricky Seals Jones.
Hopefully they break the $EC all time record of 38 verbals in one year.

Georgia has 30, and room for more. SEC is the NFL lite, you can sign and cut players all you want. I think the SEC has non active rosters for scholarship kids temporarily hidden if injuries or attrition that occurs, that is where over signing helps. Their admission standards, if you breathe on a mirror and fogs it up, you are admitted to play football.

Re: texas am just gets commit #32
Does the Big 12 let schools over sign? If not is it crazy to think Texas AM could be come the "it" school in Texas over UT? There is no doubt over signing gives you an advantage as you get to drop the players who dont preform.

Georgia doesn't oversign or cut players.

Georgia doesn't oversign or cut players. I think what brutus was trying to say (or how I took it) was: not so much about over signing, but the SEC is like the NFL "lite"; Meaning they still pay signing bonuses, just not as much.

RE: texas am just gets commit #32
I thought the SEC finally instituted a commitment limit... looks like it doesn't apply to A&M??
Saban won't let A&M get away with anything inside his division... could get interesting.

Re: texas am just gets commit #34
Wouldnt it be a great problem to have if we could sign 8 wide recievers and 5 linebackers that would literally be half of our recruiting class this year.

Re: texas am just gets commit #34
My son applied to both UT Austin and Texas A&M. It was much easier to get accepted at A&M by far.
Their approach to academics was to let almost anyone in the door and weed them out after their freshman/sophomore years with a minimum GPA requirement to advance to upper level courses. Looks like they apply the same thinking to their football recruiting!

Re: texas am just gets commit #34
Texas A&M is quick learners.
34 recruits in one recruiting class.
Non conference schedule of South Carolina State, Sam Houston State, SMU, Louisiana Tech AND Sam Houston State, SMU, Louisiana Tech, and UTEP.
Rack up stats v. SC State, SH State, SMU, La Tech, Auburn, Arkansas, Missouri, and Ole Miss.
Make everybody forget about bad games v. LSU and Florida and focus entirely on Alabama game.
Texas Longhorns, and SEC may soon regret pushing A&M out of the Big 12, and accepting them into the SEC.

Re: texas am just gets commit #32
That must be the case unless the SEC gave him a waiver. 28 is supposed to be the max with 3 dating back to the previous year. otterbeinbuckeye wrote: I wonder if any of their commits aren't likely to qualify academically. Chip Kelly would be first on my list given the small amounts of defense played in the Big 12.
