Re: I'll Call it
seems like we cant turn the corner with alot of these first 5 star recruits,i think it's because this is urbans first full class and hasnt had as much time to get comfortable with these guys...i do expect big things in 2014 however.

Re: I'll Call it
I don't agree. With Brennan's injury I think we got the best te for what meyer does out of Cali and one of the best spread RBs and got him from MO. He also got arguably thes best DE. Those guys would not be here under JT. We would have gotten The Ohio LBs under JT so Meyer needs one or both of Johnson and Mitchell and I will say this class is ideal. Meyer isn't at UF anymore. It's harder to get guys to come north

Re: I'll Call it
If that truly does happen u can't help but say the class was a disappointment. 2 guys u had great shots with went elsewhere and would have made the class arguably #1 and without them barely top 10

I always considered both of these guys gravy. Never was assuming we'd get either.

Re: I'll Call it
Meyer's staff is hardly a murderer's row of killer talent. Safeties sucked this year, coached by Co-DC Withers who brought nothing to the Buckeyes, as far as anyone can show. Buckeye defense can't stop the spread, couldn't all year. WRs were another total zero, coached by Smith, Bruce's grandson, and if he wasn't Bruce's grandson, would he have a job? A top S and WR aren't blown away by the idea of coming to Columbus? I can see that.
The passing game was terrible, Bollman-bad, and Miller might have regressed as a passer, just based on his TD/int numbers, and his production and numbers were not noticeably superior in any category from this year to last. OC Herman is another guy, like Withers and Smith, who have never shown themselves to be great coaches and did nothing of note this season. Herman was a nobody from Iowa St. who didn't do much in Ames and he was a crap QB coach and we all know that the offense is just Urban's base, pretty vanilla.
We know that Meyer can coach and recruit, but who is he relying on to do the dirty work? His assistants, and his assistants are not impressive. Everyone says Fickell is a great recruiter, but he hasn't done much in finding LB talent, or coaching LBs, so I have my doubts. Vrabel seems like the real deal, but the ability and effectiveness of Meyer's staff is an honest and open question at this point.

I have to give BC some credit. Most trolls just give you a one-liner, this guy writes essays.

Re: I'll Call it
Is Smith any different than Doc Tressel? Is Herman objectively any Better than either Bollman or Siciliano? What did our Co-DC ever do at North Carolina that was so impressive because his S and defense this year were still among the worst we have seen in Columbus in years.
And this thread is about how they are not exactly tearing up the recruiting trail. Honest questions, typical BS homer ignorance as an answer.

Re: I'll Call it
Ohio State is tied for third in * Average. Ahead of Alabama. Any thoughts that this is a down year for recruiting is ridiculous.

Re: I'll Call it
Is Smith any different than Doc Tressel? Well the big one is he coaches WRs instead of RBs... Anyway the answer is yes because he actually recruits. Is Herman objectively better than Bollman or Siciliano? Very much so. In fact there is pretty much no argument he isn't. Maybe he wasn't as good this year as he was hyped to be, but his is so far away from those 2 its almost laughable to compare them. What did our Co-DC ever do at North Carolina that was so impressive? Well those defenses were some of the nations best. How are we not tearing up the recruiting trail? Odds are we finish no less than 5th, probably top 3, possibly #1. If that's not tearing it up then I don't know what to tell you. BlueCrimson wrote: Is Smith any different than Doc Tressel? Is Herman objectively any Better than either Bollman or Siciliano? Keep calling it, no matter how much you want it to be true it isn't. tOSU has a great chance at both of these kids.
