Re: Why OSU OL recruiting is fine
When you take the consensus ranking from 247 (uses Scout, Rivals, ESPn and 247) you get
Freshman or incoming OL that Meyer offered or would have offered if here.
Lisle #7 OT Oconnor #12 OG Farris #13 DE Decker #19 OT Dodson #23 OT Boren #30 OG Gardner #104 OT Scout #31 OG (offered by Meyer 8 months before NSD after in person workout at FNL)
Quality is very good. 90% of D1 schools would be ecstatic with that going forward. Between Dawson and next year we need 3 OL. All must be guys that Meyer really wants. I see in 2014 Farris, Decker, Boren and 2 of Lisle, Dodson, Occonor starting. When you look at having time with Warriner and how well these guys were thought of, I'm not claiming Alabama good OL but definitely should be top 2-3 OL in Big Ten and top 10-20 OL in America. OL should not be a problem. Playmakers have been a problem for the last few years and with guys like Jalin Marshall and Zeke Elliott coming in we may finally be turning the corner on that.

Re: Why OSU OL recruiting is fine
He can play OG or DT. Whatever he will help the team more at he will play. Consider hin potential depth at both positions. He will probably be a 2-3 year starter at one of those positions. Difference between doing what the coaches could ask you and what they have told you (DL) --------------------------------------------- --- ssbucks wrote: polandbuck wrote: Price is not an O-lineman.Yes he said he would play OLine if the coaches wanted him to. ---------------------------------------------

Re: Why OSU OL recruiting is fine
You are assuming that the starters stay healthy. I'm a little concerned about the lack of playing time for the backups.
We were very fortunate to not have any serious injuries on the O-line this year.

Re: Why OSU OL recruiting is fine
Meyer isn't exactly running a spread offense here. To be honest, this past year, the spread part of the honest was the least functional. It may be the growing pains, but the non-spread parts actually worked out better in 2012. BucksandReds wrote: Also, OSU's spread offense does not require traditional road grade high ranked OL. OSU will be recruiting guys that fit what they want to do (3 stars Oconnor and Gardner) and not necessarily only the highest ranked guys. If Meyer offered, then we might as well assume they have the potential to be 3 year starters. You think that, in Meyer's eyes, guys like Taivon Jacobs, Tracy Sprinkle, Tim Gardner etc have 50 prospects better than them at their position? If meyer thought that then he wouldn't have offered? He could do better (especially 8 months before signing day) than get guys he thinks are 50 or 60 in the country at their position.

2014 Recruit Zach Harmon OG & C from Toledo Central Catholic who just won the DII State title game was in for a visit against Illinios game. Kid looks like a beast. Plays with Kizer and they run a spread. http://www.scoutingohio.com/in...e&user=9794

Farris and Decker may be the starting tackles next year. They are that good.
