Any top recruits considering OSU better get on board

Have a feeling we are going to get some commitments soon. Urban is unbelievable, taking a 6-7 team to undefeated in 1 season with very average talent. I thought for sure is was a 3 or 4 loss year.

That's exactly what he will concentrating on now.. Recruiting is going to get REAL interesting, both with the closure of 13 and maybe more importantly 14.. The 2014 class could be absolutely SICK!!

Yeah, "12 n 0" and an entire bowl season to focus on recruiting.  He's going to go on a recruiting tear.

There are rules regarding recruiting. Urban cant run around doing in home visits while other coaches are coaching. All head coaches are limited to their number of contacts.

Very good point.  Anyone can correct me if I have anything below wrong.

According to the source I found, December 16 is a quiet period and December 17 to January 3 is a dead period meaning no contacts or evaluations on or off campus and coaches aren't allowed to make phone calls to recruits.  The coaches are also apparently not allowed to visit or call juniors at all.

This apparently means all contact with juniors will have to be via letter or email or the junior will have to call the coach.

This also apparently means the staff will only have until December 16 to visit and call seniors before most other coaches start to free up in early January, which they can apparently do once per week up to a maximum of six times until signing day per recruit.  I'm sure they won't want to use up all their permissible visits to remaining recruits during December and will save some for January/early February.  I think the coaches may also be able to go no additional visits to the recruits' schools without visiting the recruit himself, called evaluations, but I'm not entirely sure.

I guess not going to a bowl game is not as big of a recruiting advantage as I was hoping it would be.  I guess we'll just have to subsist on using Urban Meyer going 12 and 0 in his first year here to our recruiting advantage. wink

It isn't and people who think that NOT going to a bowl is a recruiting advantage are misinformed. If that were the case then the Akrons of the world should blow up the recruiting circuit.

that logic is flawed. It is true many teams that were under .500 this year and not going to a bowl game will not get a major boost in recruiting because of it. However, they also don't have this rare circumstance of going undefeated with Urban at the helm. Im sure Not having to plan who needs to fly where and who needs to be back on this day for bowl practices is most likely a slight advantage for Urban's staff. It is also their only focus, which would be true for all non bowl teams, but again no one else just went undefeated has Urban Meyer as coach or the history of Ohio state

You can't force top recruits to sign early if they don't want to becasue some top school will make room for them 100% of the time.

Yep, but there can be isolated cases where they might not get their first choice if they wait too long.
