If your defense is on the field 70% of the time because your offense can't move the ball, they get many more opportunities to tackle someone.   Just saying...

Um, three things...

1. U of I sucks this year, so to be a standout there doesn't take much.

2. That was the only big program that offered him. Meanwhile, tOSU was offering Cam Williams and Luke Roberts. We'll see who has the better corps in a year or two when these guys are all starting. I'm going to chance it and bet on the Bucks.

3. You think Meyer doesn't get the final say? Why bring Fick and Vrabel into this... and have you not forgotten that Luke Fickell has been one of our better recruiters over the years?

I'm smelling a hater.

I said they should have taken both ... would have
really helped in the middle this year and going forward ...

There is a reason why the leading tackler of a conference always plays on a bad defense.
It's because the defense is on the field long enough (drive after drive) to give defensive players more plays to accumulate more tackles.

If you play for a great defense, and you shut out opposing offenses to "three and out" on a lot of their drives, then you will never be on the field long enough to rack up "total tackles".

With that being said, Monheim is better than Luke Roberts.
Not sure Luke will ever sniff the field much under Urban.

How do you know that?

Regardless our linebackers are bad, sabino was a huge miss, shazier has been so so, a converted fullback is our best linebacker. We could use all the help we can get.

I can say this with 100% assurance............you are clueless. Shazier is the best OSU linebacker since Laurinaitis and I believe he will follow the same all-American status.

Shazier has improved his reads over the second half of the season and should continue to get better, NOBODY can claim that the kind doesn't go all out and throw his body around like a crazy man and without a doubt, he is the best LB this year. One has to love what our converted fullback has brought to the field but come on now.............
