RE: Jalin Marshall Sr. Highlights

Wonder if Jalin playing QB in high school will be incorporated into some plays on offense somehow by Herman when he's on the field? Just another card that Herman could play.. Absolutely can't wait to see it!

Probably not. Not a good QB at the HS wont translate to seeing time at QB in college. As a wildcat option maybe but he wont throw the ball often if at all

Re: Jalin Marshall Sr. Highlights

I could see Jalin throwing some WR passes as a trick play a couple times in his career. Maybe he goes to QB if all of our others are out like Ted Ginn did in the fiesta bowl a while back. Outside of that he is just not good enough of a passer.

Maybe if he was running a different offense in high school he could have developed.

Pretty sure they ran the spread before this year. I know the HC is in his first year with the team and went to more of a triple offense

Does he really not have the ability to play qb in college or are people steretyping him because they think he can't be a qb?

Heh..  I was going to comment on how that's some pretty crappy highlight footage music. tongue
Nothing against Tom Petty, I like some of his stuff, but for a football highlight film??

Because hes not a good passer and his stats seem to indicate this

He doesn't have elite top-end speed but his short area quickness and first 3 steps are impressive. Would look great in the Hybrid role for OSU.

That's what I mean.. Teddy did a couple.. Just the threat of him being able to toss simple passes is a threat.. Get him the ball on a sweep, get the defense flowing..etc..

RE: Jalin Marshall Sr. Highlights

jalin marshall can complete passes such as short out routes in the endzone, at a camp earlier (elite 11?), Jalin split time between QB drills and WR drills, they said Jalin and Shane Morris were challenging each other throw for throw, shane was overall best QB but Jalin turned some heads.

So to BucksBig, yes I think it is quite possible.

If Jalin had say, at least JT Barrett's arm there is no doubt in my mind he would be a top 5 prospect overall and be compared to Mike Vick.He has a similar running style, the throwing not so much.

Shame too because hes an ultra talented runner and if you could add in a good arm his high school highlights would have been so much fun to watch!

Also I believe Marshall is 5'11...that has a lot to do with it. He is built like a non qb skill player more so than a qb. Plus with him behind 2 years behind Miller and his skill with the ball in his hands, it doesn't add up to a qb career at OSU.

Re: Jalin Marshall Sr. Highlights

Jalin Marshall is a very talented football player. Very quick and fast in space. I very difficult offensive player to contain. Is he a top flight passer, probubly not. But he can throw the ball and the key to his success in college would be getting him out on the edge to throw the ball. To do any kind of reverse play, then be able to throw a pass is very difficult for a defense to defend.

How the Staff decides to use Marshall depends on his learning curve. The talent is already there, lots of talent. I would love to develope three plays for Miller and Marshall in the backfield at the same time. Add in Hyde and  run a play at the edge! Do you cover Hyde and leave the edge open for a swing/pich to Marshall. Too much talent in space. Marshall will only add to the ability of the offense to create mismatches. It will be a fun time seeing this offense develop over the next few years. Marshall is a very talented player in space!!

This makes sense to me.  I don't know if it's accurate but makes sense.
