Watched the highlight reel.  The dude has size, a high motor, and when he hits people, they go down hard.  Actually, even when he gets close to the victim, they have no chance of escape.  When considering his young age, his ceiling has to be higher than similar kids in the same recruiting class, because he will continue to rapidly grow and mature, in the next year even.  Also, the competition he is playing against appears to be pretty formidable.   Up until now, I never paid much attention to Sprinkle, but after watching the highlights, I am now a fan.

1-Your post illustrates why it is stupid to flip out if kid is ranked the #48 DE in the country vs. the #27 DE in the country. The only peiople who truly think that means a damn thing are the star hander-outers at scout and ESPN who have a financial interest in stirring the pot. The coaches look at the kid on film and in person and decide if he is worth the offer-rankings don't mean a damn thing.

2-Theortetically, Sprinkle's ranking MIGHT be justified. Let's look at the top 12 states for recruiting-as a guess-California,Texas,Georgia,Florida,Ohio,Pennsy lvania,Alabama,Viriginia,North Carolina,South Carolina,Louisiana, and Arizona. Is it possible there are 4 DEs in each of those states-and 3 in Ohio-who have comparable stats/pass the on-field look test better-yes, theoretically it is quite possible, not to mention all the DEs in the states not listed above. Bottom line-it is about recruiting potential, not HS stats.
