This trio will give Braxton plenty of weapons.

RE: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Is Marshall really a "speedster"?
I always thought of him more like Peter Warrick, quick and shifty... But truly fast (meaning elite.. he's a helluva lot faster than I am)?

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Marshall is shifty, incredibly explosive in 10 yard bursts and hard as hell to tackle but doesn't have the top end breakaway of a Ginn or Demps. He will be a nightmare to deal with for OSU opponents.

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Same story every February, new kids come in and suddenly the guys that currently start are going to ride the pine. I would venture to say none of these guys play a major role this year unless there is an injury or getting reps in scrub time.

RE: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Marshall has football speed. He will break away plenty of times for huge gains. The guy can play. Born to be a ball carrier. I cant wait to see him hit the field in scarlet and grey.

I would venture to say you would be wrong. This is the best OSU class since 96 IMO, and if you remember that team...freshman did play major roles. Katzenmoyer, Boston, Wiley etc didn't just get reps in scrub time.

If the current starters were all guys Urban Meyer recruited for his system, I would tend to agree. However, He said many times that the team lacked playmakers. He has gone out and recruited some. My guess is he finds a way to get these guys reps.

Im tired of people not saying Marshall cant be a speedster
He burnt LSU commit Brazil who ran a 4.28, in the UA game for a 40+ yard catch. His FOOTBALL speed and burst is absolutely elite

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Meyer always plays elite freshmen
Punt return, kickoff return is where the early reps will be
We will also see some 4/5 wide receiver sets --------------------------------------------- --- silverbullet71 wrote:

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
These are all great highschool players and I am sure they will all have good college careers. As to who will get playing time next year it's all speculation at this point. I like the rest of you am very excited to have each of these guys, but, the guys who were on the team last year went 12-0 and so there must have been a few playmakers. Anyway it will all play out. I personally am excited for the NCAA video game coz the Buckeye speed will be ridiculous. lol

Whoa there.... who are these guys going to take time away from? Elliot has a phenomenal future... HOWEVER he is NOT going to displace Hyde, Smith or Dunn... you remember Dunn right 5* #7 rated running back in the country.... Wilson and Marshall are studs without question... Hall is the #1 hybrid guy right now with a massive lead. Corey Smith was brought in as a JUCO because he is ready to play NOW. With the elite level of recruiting Meyer is doing you dont go after a Smith because you want him to sit. You bring him in to START from day 1. That means that Marshall and Wilson are competing for time against Hall, Brown, Smith(Corey) Devin Smith, Evan Smith and Michael Thomas. While I can see them seeing the field it is most likely sparingly. They will almost surely be the #6 or #7 slotted receiver. Marshall is LEARNING how to play WR... he isnt going to be ready this year and almost 100% is going to redshirt. Wilson stands a real shot at getting on the field but, IMO the staff probably goes Hall and spells Hall with Brown at Hybrid making Wilson 3rd team... if that combo works, why on earth would you burn a year of eligibility for slop time?
You win with people

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Meyer did not bring in JUCO Corey Smith to sit the bench. A loud boom just hit the WHAC...The players on our roster better take note...especially at WR and TE. We have added a lot of elite speed. I agree with Cinci...the return game has gotten a huge boost. Everyone of these kids will get a shot. I would not count out Jacobs just because of his star rating. I could see us having the highest kickreturn average in the B10...punt return as well. Johnny Townsend will start at punter...huge upgrade. Special teams will be much better. I agree with Cinci also about more 4-5 WR sets...a lot more. Imagine this for second... Braxton Wilson Smith Smith Brown Marshall Good luck B10 CinciBuck3 wrote: Meyer always plays elite freshmen

RE: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
Marshall is the best player I've seen in ohio since Carlos Snow. He's unreal.
The warm breeze of September optimism in Ann Arbor, is once again replaced with the cool October wind of reality.

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
I don't beleigve Corey Smith is gauranteed playing time because he was in junior college. Sometimes freshman are better than more expereinced players. Thered is no way Meyer recruited all these fast guys to have them all on the bench. Some of these guys will take playi8ng time from more experienced players. That is what happens when recruiting at the highest level.
If all of these freshman are benchwarmers, Meyer will lose credibililty for the future and I don't think he will risk that. Alabama is the bench mark and they play many young guys over expereinced players.
These players will not just be waiting their turn.

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
You really think he will play a true frosh as to not lose credibility with a 16 yr old in the future? To each their own I guess.
These guys may play, but I doubt anyone sees 50 touches next year (unless we are absolutely steamrolling teams, or we suffer a big injury).
Braxton was the man, and in his 2nd year as starter, he had games where he just wasnt very good still. Yet once again, we expect an 18 yr old to play like an AA just because he was/is faster/better than his comp in high school
I also dont think Hall is Sharpie'd in as starter at Hybrid. Guys dont always come back at 100%. Anderson Russell case in point.
I know everyone is excited to see these fast guys. But in the games with REAL opponents, when the defense is fast and skilled to, you need someone you can trust with the rock.
Our last buckeye action featured Hyde REPEATEDLY running over scUM defenders to run out the clock. That's as valuable as anything. And thats a man's running back.
If anything, you should want these guys to NOT play alot early, as 1) it means we have guys on the team that are better, and 2) it keeps them hungry

Re: Marshall/Elliott/Wilson
That's because there were holes to fill from the previous season. Terry Glenn entered the NFL draft early. Buster Tillman was also gone. Rickey Dudley (TE) graduated and went to the NFL. There was a need for 1 LB and Greg Bellisari slid over to OLB to make room for Kat at MLB. In 2013 are Jordan Hall, Carlos Hyde, Rod Smith, Bri'onte Dunn, Philly Brown, etc... all going to be benched for true Freshmen? cdub4 wrote:
