Like a Michigan who spent their entire life in Columbus, they do it just to piss people off. They are basically trolling us all in real life. Don't feed the trolls.

They are bandwagon fans, not real fans. They just like to root for a winning team instead of the Clowns or the Bungles. Kind of like half the fans on this board. milkdog99 wrote: I don't understand the amount of steeler fans in Ohio! Blows my mind how can you not like the browns!! No freaking loyalty!

I'm not a steeler fan, but when you compare what that miserable POS Mike Brown has done with his father's business to how Dan Rooney has handled his father's business, its hard to be a Bungles fan. The only reason the Bengals are starting to make some progress is Brown is getting old and has turned most of the GM job over to his daughter Katie Blackburn.

I heard from a person who worked for the bengals daily that blackburn plays with the money, she'll get a deal and back out last second. whole family sucks.

I've been a browns fan since I was a boy...I don't care if they are 0-16, staying with your makes you feel proud when they finally do it. Remember how proud you were when the bucks won the title..if you are over 50 I know it felt good After --------------------------------------------- --- Swimcat76 wrote:that long championship drought

Re: ohio steeler fans!!
Sigh... I feel like I have to constantly explain this to Cleveland people and Central Ohio people. I grew up in Ohio (Ohio Valley). We were 35 minutes from Pittsburg, and 2 and a half freaking from Cleveland. We played Pittsburgh high schools, we got Pittsburgh local news channels on TV, went to Pirates games in the summer, etc. It's Steeler country through and through. Daily life and family ties trump a line on a map. Somebody from Steubenville or East Liverpool would rather die than root for the Browns. Rooting for the Browns was pretty much an automatic ass kicking in the elementary school days.
Should all those OSU grads in California start rooting for USC? Now for people born in Columbus, with no ties.. they're not real Steeler fans, and maybe you have a point.

Exactly, I was born in Eastern PA, raised in East Liverpool, now i live in Canfield. Pittsburgh Sports and media run most of those areas along the Ohio River. Youngstown is about 50/50. It's a family thing. Those same areas of Ohio are all Buckeye towns as well. I grew up in a family that loved the NFL, my personaly love is for my Buckeyes, that I choose to watch and love growing up in the 80s and 90s. My family didn't watch college football, but I did and I honestly would choose NCAA football over NFL anyday of the week. Once you move west of the counties that touch PA and WV, I see your point but even then there are plenty of people with PA roots living in Ohio like myself all over.

Re: ohio steeler fans!!
Quit trying to explain the obvious, some people are thicker in the head than a bull in the a$$. I'm really not a big pro football fan at all (college is my game) but where you grew up and followed a certain team says a lot as to who you root for.

Far Eastern Ohio has always been Pittsburgh Country. Especially in River and Steel towns like Steubenville, East Liverpool, Martins Ferry, Wheeling (WV) etc. It's ALWAYS been this way even before the Steelers started winning Super Bowls in the 70's. Just like there are Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings fans in NW Ohio. People around here love the Buckeyes. ND is big but the Buckeyes still rule. I never saw a Cleveland news station until I moved to Canton for college. Nowhere on my Ohio Birth Certificate does it say that my Ohio citizenship is null and void if I don't grow up to be a Browns/Bengals fan.

Given your thinking every Browns fan should root for the Bengals as their second favorite team. How many Ohio State or Ohio born players on the Browns roster? Where is that organization's loyalty to the home state. College football is more about state pride. The players are our neighbors. They went to our schools. The teams bear the state name.

Re: ohio steeler fans!!
I'm a lifelong 9ers fan. Guess that makes me an Uber traitor . Most people choose their loyalties to a team at a very young age. & if people around you are not "local" fans , you will pick a team that catches your attention first. Iow , someone who is winning. Not too hard to figure out. I had no surrounding family to speak of who cared about the NFL , so i chose the 9ers as a young impressionable youth. I did however have a strong surrounding of OSU fans......so there ya go.
People who see life as anything more than pure entertainment are missing the point.

Re: ohio steeler fans!!
I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and I'm a diehard Buckeye & Steeler fan. I was raised a Steelers fan, all I knew growing up was Ohio State football & Steelers football. It's not like I live in Cleveland or Cincinnati and I choose to do so to become irritating. It's how I was raised. There are three very large football markets in Columbus because of the location. Pittsburgh is only about 3 hours away. It's not that unimaginable to me that there are a ton of Steelers fans in Columbus.
