RE: Most Important Plays in Ohio State History

Ronnie Lott had no interceptions in this game, and claiming the final incompletion on a desparation drive 80 yards from the end zone is one of the biggest plays in OSU history is not an astute argument.

They were wrong.  The person who wrote that revisionist piece was probably "as high as a kite" as Charles White was in that game.

First of all, not sure where you are coming up with OSU abandoning its run-oriented offense that last possession when considering the fact that Schlichter threw for almost 300 yards the entire game.

Well if you follow the link it's cut and pasted from there.

What I actually wrote was that OSU's QB changed the play.

4th QTR 1:32 a chance for a NC in the Rose Bowl.

The point is a run play was called by the coaches and the QB changed it to a pass and the pass failed.

Interception or incomplete is small detail. OSU lost possession either way.

Where is your source??  Who said a run play was called and it was changed to a pass play??  From watching the game, it does not appear that Schlichter audibled at the line.

I think you are making up your own version of events.  None of it based on fact.

The play you are referring to that was NEARLY INTERCEPTED was 4th and 10.  Not many coaches on the planet would call a run play on 4th and 10.

We could probably make the same list of plays OSU didn't make that cost the team the game or the ability to play for a NC.

Shaun Springs slip vsMich
Hamby dropped TD pass. Vs Texas

OFFENSE

1. Chic Harley's 42-yard TD run vs. Michigan to clinch the 13-3 win at Ann Arbor in 1919. First victory over Michigan. OSU coach John Wilce labeled it the greatest play in Harley's career.

2. Les Horvath's late TD plunge to top Michigan 18-14 in 1944, one of most exciting games in history of the series.

3. Archie Griffin's 30-yard TD run for what proved to be the game-winning points in 14-11 upset of Michigan in 1972.

4. Terry Glenn's 82-yard TD catch to sting Notre Dame 45-26 in 1995.

5. Keith Byars running 65 yards out of his shoe as focal point in 24-point comeback win over Illinois in 1984.

DEFENSE

1. Hop Cassidy's INT and 88 yard TD return in 1954 Wisconsin game

2. Maurice Clarett's strip of Sean Taylor in 2003 Fiesta Bowl.

3. Ray Griffin's pick and near six in final three minutes of 1975 OSU-Michigan game, led to 21-14 victory.

4. Vic Janowicz 44-yard INT return that turned around the 1950 Rose Bowl and led to an upset of undefeated Cal. First bowl win in school history.

5. Ted Provot's pick-6 to spearhead a 13-0 upset of Purdue and led to a national championship season in 1968.

SPECIAL TEAMS

1. Todd Bell returns blocked punt for TD and game-winning score in 18-15 win at Michigan in 1979.

2. Vic Janowicz incredible 37-yard field goal during Snow Bowl loss to Michigan in 1950.

3. Neal Colzie's 56-yard punt return that turned around the 1974 Rose Bowl, which became a 42-21 OSU rout of defending national champion USC.

4. Chic Harley's 80-yard punt return vs. Wisconsin in 1916, leading to a victory in most significant game in OSU history to that point. Buckeyes would go on to win their first Big Ten title.

5. Ted Ginn's 78-yard punt return keys a 2004 upset of Michigan.
