Oh, and an osuwatchdog sighting. This thread is now filled with over inflated opinions of one's self worth.

I've talked to credible people with firsthand knowledge.  Smith knew about Tatgate/Pryor and had Tressel keep his mouth shut.  JT took the fall and was the patsy.  Why Smith is still employed at this University is beyond me....and alarming.

What Smith has done for the OSU athletic program in regards to the dept's finances, student athletes -specifically the academic resources he has created, has been innovative, and done nothing but benefit OSU.

OSU's Athletic Dept is totally self-supporting; and it's because of Gene Smith, that the AD has transferred around $30 mil to the University in his seven years.  How many other programs can say that?  I'm guessing not most.

Bottom line, the man is highly successful, he is a brilliant business mind (2010 Sport Business Journal Athletic Director of the Year,) and is a graduate of Notre Dame, so maybe some of you should not be showing such disrespect.

So I guess you are in the know then. Okay, cool.

The individual who started this thread needs to wake up. He or she must be Gene's wife or relative. He's trolling no matter who he or she is.

I think alot of posters forget that part of it.

If not for Smith, it could have been alot worse than a 1 year ban.

Gene Smith fumbles nearly everything he touches that requires actual intelligence, leadership, or public relations.  He's an unmitigagted embarrassment as an AD at Ohio State.

Gene Smith brought us Urban Meyer about as much as the random Buckeye fan sitting behind a post in B deck did.

@thenationalchampions

Your the simpleton who's a Gene Smith apologist. Yes Tressel got the emails. He obviously didn't fwd them. It has been discussed before but fwd'ing them would be dumb for obvious reasons but let me help you. Fwd'ing the emails would leave a bigger paper trail and looking back on it Gene is lucky Tressel didn't forward them. Instead he verbally communicated it to his AD. How else was Gene notified and subsequently in on Tressel's meeting with Pryor and Posey in the spring of 2010? If you had contact with anyone on that team you'd know a lot more about this than what you've been told to believe by the University and the media. If it ever got out that Smith knew it would be doomsday for Ohio State. They saved their brand and Smiths job by finding their fall guy in Tressel. You need to wake up.

Re: We are very fortunate to have Gene Smith.

It doesn't take insider information to know any of what we discussed, hot shot.  You haven't added any insider info -nothing more than what the general public already knows about tatgate.  Yes, everyone agrees, Tressel did not forward the emails for obvious reasons (which was my point as well had you bothered to read my post,) and it is also highly likely that he verbalized the emails to Smith and Gee.  That said, it is also highly likely the three of them agreed to play the tat five anyway, and hope free tattoos would go away (as 100% of NCAA coaches would have done in hindsight.)

So do you have a point other than Gene Smith just wanted to make Jim Tressel a scapegoat?

If you are truly in the know, please provide something more than what I can already do myself by connecting the dots, (i.e. Tressel probably communicated to Smith/Gee about tatgate in person;) and provide something more than obvious observations (i.e. Tressel didn't forward the emails.)

osuwatchdog posted exactly what was going to happen with tatgate days before it became public knowledge. He's certainly an insider. His arrogance is well deserved.

Re: We are very fortunate to have Gene Smith.

osuwatchdog is Brooks Melchior?

osuwatchdog does a great job of keeping stuff vague enough that there's plausible deniability. He can't even produce a date for when the Posey/Pryor/JT meeting that Gene supposedly attended. He keeps saying how he was embedded with the team and had friends who knew what was going, yet he was only parroting the mainstream media. "Anonymous" is not a suitable source, and osuwatchdog has never cited specifically where he got the scoop. Because he didn't have the scoop, and is simply trying to be a message board Mandingo.

osuwatchdog's name is Mudd.

Re: We are very fortunate to have Gene Smith.

@thestoicpaisano
Vague? I give more thorough information here than most. I gave the day of that meeting many times. I don't have an exact date but it was a Monday morning at 6am. That's a fact. In looking at the last email from Cicero which was on a Friday I would guess with good assurance that this meeting was the very next Monday. Go look at the emails yourself and then put a date on that Monday (19th may be). Parroting the mainstream media? Haha! As stated above by a poster I do not know personally tatgate was revealed here prior to any media outlet as was the identification of Bobby DiGeronimo. Yes I do have associations with many many former players and employees. Some are on this board and other sites. Why would I throw those people under the bus by revealing them? You are stuck in the mud.
