OSU could have beaten ND, look at how Michigan probably could have beaten ND. OSU ND would have been the final game due to record, honestly I don't think OSU beats Bama. as far as oregon, they struggle with big lines, it's a recurrent theme.

If you look at Smith's body of work prior to his employment at OSU, you will find that most of the major sport teams were not conference champions and struggled to win. If it was not for wealthy alumni, Urban Meyer would not be head coach at OSU.

What Smith has done for the OSU athletic program in regards to the dept's finances, student athletes -specifically the academic resources he has created, has been innovative, and done nothing but benefit OSU.

OSU's Athletic Dept is totally self-supporting; and it's because of Gene Smith, that the AD has transferred around $30 mil to the University in his seven years.  How many other programs can say that?  I'm guessing not most. 

Bottom line, the man is highly successful, he is a brilliant business mind (2010 Sport Business Journal Athletic Director of the Year,) and is a graduate of Notre Dame, so maybe some of you should not be showing such disrespect.

If Smith already knew he had a good shot at Myer(as many do), then his Gator Bowl move was very puzzling. Sure hindsight is 20/20 and everybody makes mistakes, but Smith's was HUGE.

What makes you think Oregon couldn't be beaten by OSU? OSU already beat an identical Oregon team in 2009.  Oregon looks great against Pac12 and Big 12 defenses.

As for Alabama, obviously they are the best team, so likely OSU loses as well, but 14 pts seems very reasonable.  ND is terrible and needed five turnovers to squeak by UM; whereas OSU tried to choke the UM game away and blew about four TDs while in the red zone.  OSU was clearly the better team, but just threw away too many opportunities.

Not to mention atm beat bama, so you never know, an upset is always possible.
