If Smith already knew he had a good shot at Myer(as many do), then his Gator Bowl move was very puzzling. You would think a mediocre year with an interim coach would be the perfect time to accept a ban. He can't say it was for the Seniors, because any year is bad for the Seniors, like this year. Actually, this year is even worse.

OSU could have beaten ND, look at how Michigan probably could have beaten ND. OSU ND would have been the final game due to record, honestly I don't think OSU beats Bama. as far as oregon, they struggle with big lines, it's a recurrent theme. alanleatherman wrote: Is 2010 Oregon the same as 2012? & yea I wanted to add the part about which top tier team you guys would beat.... I'm not the biggest Jim Foster fan, and would have no problem with him being replaced. But here is what he's done coming into this season...
261-69(.790) 129-37(.780) in conference play. A record 6 straight regular season Big 10 titles.
I realize the NCAA tournament woes. But pretty impressive stats nonetheless. It is always the "What have you done for me lately mentality.". If he isn't let go after this season, he will never be fired and will eventually leave under his own terms. Some of the teams he had in the past and not making it to at least the Elite 8 astonishes me. He would have taken a Katie Smith team and lost in Round 2 of the tourney. Go BUCKS!!! OHIO STATE in '13!!!

Re: We are very fortunate to have Gene Smith.
Gene Smith's accomplishments include the following: 1) Raising ticket prices; 2) Videotaping a recruit, which is an NCAA violation; 3) Playing in the 2012 Gator Bowl instead of declining it in hope of the 2013 team playing in a title game. In essence, he could have cost Urban a shot at the national championship; 4) Giving Bobby DiGeronimo complete access to OSU players against the wishes of Jim Tressel. If your memory is short, Mr. DiGeronimo's efforts were part of the NCAA sanctions; 5) As chairman of the NCAA Basketball selection committee, Smith placed OSU in the toughest bracket to win; 6) Hiring a mediocre baseball coach to replace Bob Todd. Kent State now has the best college baseball program in Ohio, NOT Ohio State. If you look at Smith's body of work prior to his employment at OSU, you will find that most of the major sport teams were not conference champions and struggled to win. If it was not for wealthy alumni, Urban Meyer would not be head coach at OSU. Thenationalchampions wrote: It's too bad so many of our fans judge his body of work only by what they see on TV, most of it related to tatgate. All he did was defend your program from petty bs, such as discounted tattoos. What Smith has done for the OSU athletic program in regards to the dept's finances, student athletes -specifically the academic resources he has created, has been innovative, and done nothing but benefit OSU.
OSU's Athletic Dept is totally self-supporting; and it's because of Gene Smith, that the AD has transferred around $30 mil to the University in his seven years. How many other programs can say that? I'm guessing not most.
Bottom line, the man is highly successful, he is a brilliant business mind (2010 Sport Business Journal Athletic Director of the Year,) and is a graduate of Notre Dame, so maybe some of you should not be showing such disrespect.

I have an opinion so i'm a troll! Cool story bro. If i'm not mistaken your the one that resorted to name calling! I was simply trying to ask who thought you guys would beat Oregon or come within 14 of Bama. I think you guys had a very solid team, will be in the chase for the National Title next year, but claiming a title for 2012-13 not so much. Again IMO Stratbuck wrote:

You got a point on the message board thing though, usually the more "hardcore" fans.

I would just say that a lot of osu fans wouldn't think they would have went to the national title game, and most of the rest of the nation would agree as well.

Never said Michigan could beat a top tier team, but one of yours said the bowl ban cost osu a national title chance. No way in hell. I think Ksu or South Carolina vs osu would be a great match up.
And I would hold your tongue on our basketball team! We'll beat you by 10 at our place! 3 loses in the Big Ten will win it no doubt

DocSoloman wrote: IMO,the harsh reality that many OSU fans have a hard time getting past is that Smith may very well have cost OSU a shot at the BCSCG this year and the millions that go with it.
Sure hindsight is 20/20 and everybody makes mistakes, but Smith's was HUGE.

--------------------------------------------- fify Haha you had to edit that weak post? We beat Oregon in the Rose Bowl in 2010. Haven't got our shot vs almighty BAma. How did that work out for the little weasels by the way? LMAO
I feel bad for silly weasel fans, even their best basketball team since 1992 could not beat the worst Osu team in years. Hahaha. How does your "unbiased opinion" make that statement not true? Simple, your words ring hollow of desperation. Kind of liking resorting to thinking a "degree in computer science" means you know something about football. Lmao. Gee, imagine an Osu fan on an Osu message board thinking that a 12-0 buckeye team should be a shoe in for the nc game. How could I ever let that fly here? No real buckeye fan would admit that another 1 loss team would deserve the title over the bucks. Hell I claim an NC this year we were the last unbeaten team. Buzz off troll.

Re: We are very fortunate to have Gene Smith.
What makes you think Oregon couldn't be beaten by OSU? OSU already beat an identical Oregon team in 2009. Oregon looks great against Pac12 and Big 12 defenses. As for Alabama, obviously they are the best team, so likely OSU loses as well, but 14 pts seems very reasonable. ND is terrible and needed five turnovers to squeak by UM; whereas OSU tried to choke the UM game away and blew about four TDs while in the red zone. OSU was clearly the better team, but just threw away too many opportunities. Not to mention atm beat bama, so you never know, an upset is always possible. alanleatherman wrote: I have an opinion so i'm a troll! Cool story bro. Can't be that easy if you went to Miami. alanleatherman wrote:
