Fear of the Urb ?

I read alot of other boards , Blogs and comments and I see time and time again many other schools fans fear of Urban's recruiting .

Almost boarderline panic from Michigan and Michigan st fans. They act like the Grim Reaper is at their door .

Why are they so scared? What is driving their fear?

RE: Fear of the Urb ?

Here is why. He is turning OSU into an SEC calibre team while the rest of the B1G is standing still or moving backwards. Ohio St is going to have better coaches, better recruits, and more championships than the entire B1G combined over the next 10 years. He may even sprinkle a National Championship or two in there.

Um......."Moving backwards".....BOB beat out "Urb" for every coach of the year award this year. Penn State's coachs are every bit as good or better than OSU's.

Before the sanctions were levied psu and OSU were in a dead heat in recruiting rankings.

PLEASE!! The ONLY reason he won ANY awards is because of the circumstances. Personally I feel he still had enough talent on the team that he didn't deserve anything. Pity votes only

@arby328

That's bull. Meyer already walked into a pretty darn good team. Don't let that 6-7 record last year fool you. There was still a lot of talent on that roster Didn't you guys have the number 3 ranked class by scouts by last year? Take a look at look at psu rankings and throw in the fact that their leading rusher, receiver and kicker all transferred before the start of the season and you tell me who did a better job. It's not even close when you really think about it.

RE: Fear of the Urb ?

As opposed to Bil O' Brien walking into the most talented team he will have in his career at PPSU (unless he is there for 10+ years).

PSU is basically an afterthought for the next 8 years and it will certainly have worse football teams than it did the previous 8-10.

In 4 years, when the PSU sanctions are in full force, PSU will be lucky to win 1 Big Ten game a year. I cannot believe Hackenburg is still committed to PSU. He will be throwing the ball to a bunch of D2 players. It will ruin his career.

I never said one word about Meyer. I said that there was enough talent on the psu team that 8-4 should never have gotten the coach any awards.

Perhpas-but coaches aren't the ones putting on pads and playing the game-that's where the pedos fall short.

There's a certain kind of reassuring white rock....and some people do well with that.....

Re: Fear of the Urb ?

This thread took a strange turn.  For the immediate future, PSU will be facing sanctions that won't allow them to compete with Ohio St.  Five years from now... who knows?

No one fears Bourbon. He'll get his share, then fake a heart attack and move on in four years. He's more of a travellin' man than Larry Brown.

I have nothing to fear. I don't have a daughter who is an Ohio State cheerleader.

Not sure if you are trying to have a real debate here. But there's nothing to suggest that PSU's coaching staff, as a whole, is as good as OSU's. Let alone better.

You certainly have to give the edge to Meyer over O'Brien, right?
