I saw a snippet of a clip where he actually admitted to keeping the lie going. Looking forward to the interview, but the case is pretty much closed. He was catfished and continued to talk about her only when asked because he was embarrassed/confused

Hey, to this very day, I still respect and admire Jim Tressel very much. 

In reality, people do make mistakes in life. Whether you are 21 years-old (Manti Te'o) or  59 years-old (Jim Tressel).

Making a mistake (even a big one) did not wipe-out 10 great years for Coach Tressel in Columbus (see the 2012 Michigan game in Columbus for proof), nor will this mistake for Manti Te'o in the eyes of Notre Dame fans wipe-out what he did in his 4 years in South Bend.

In the United States, we have proved to be a very forgiving nation, which is a good thing. Time to move on.

Who I don't think will be forgiving is the NFL scouts. I don't think they will forgive him for his performance in the Bama game. Add the potential character issues (Liar at minimum, closet gay at max) and I see a drop along the lines of a pot smoker or roider. Might get a team a steal or a headache.
