I wondered if they would spin it as "Manti the victim" but if he truly wasnt in on it why wouldnt he say "Ive never met her and she wasnt/isnt my girlfriend." It would have been a nonstory. Im sure there are psychos trying to attach themselves to people in the public eye all the time. theyre probably always shot down except this one time where the guy is on a heisman campaign. Its too coincidental that such a beneficial lie came out and he fell "victim"
Teo sold out himself and his school by going all in for an individual award he didnt even win.
I wonder what Teo's dad will say when the Hawaiian newspapers print this story!

Does being Catfished involve allowing the world to believe a false story for roughly 4 months? Te'o wasn't allowed to say that he was "catfished" in September?
