RE: Two freshmen may start at LB
Mitchell might start at MLB, but even with a huge void there it is very tough to start at LB from day 1.
Perry will likely start in the base along with Shazier.

RE: Two freshmen may start at LB
mike looks like a candidate to see some action but he is still just a pup. i know urban will play his youngsters and i know that mike has big time atleticism and big time football instincts but his body will need some maturity before he is the monster we hope to see. it takes a grown as man to play mlb

RE: Two freshmen may start at LB
I try not to get to worked up about freshman coming in and playing right away. Too many timesae get guys and people want them to start from day one and call them a bust if it takes a couple years to see the field. Great high school players don't always make great college players. I do have high hopes for our two incoming players though. We defiantly need the to produce and learn the system a little quicker than Sabino and Grant (still a maybe).

Hey what about Jamal Marcus? I heard this guy might make the switch to middle line backer.

Grant if the light comes on for him. No doubt there is open spots for the freshmen to compete for, but nothing will be handed to them.

RE: Two freshmen may start at LB
Why are people dismissing perkins? He is the most athletic of the freshman LBs and with the most upside. He was also a force on ST. He could easily get the nod at star, Sam, or take over WILL when Shazier leaves next year.
2014 recruiting wish list 1. Kyle Allen 2. Jamarco Jones 3. Raekwon McMillan
Ignore list: Naplesbuckeye2002

I doubt we see this. Andy Katzenmoyers don't just grow on trees. He was once in a lifetime.

OSU hasnt had one in a while. Urban plays the best player. I personally think Trey Johnson may start at MLB, with Mike Mitchell playing outside (but not starting)

Re: Two freshmen may start at LB
I think those two play, doubtfully start. Hard to imagine Perry doesn't start given the amount of playing time he got last year as a true freshman, outside of that I have no idea.
Arguing that a proposition is true because belief in it has good consequences, or that it is false because belief in it has bad consequences is often an irrelevancy.

Re: Two freshmen may start at LB
I think the starters will come from the group of Shazier, Perry, Williams, Perkins, and Marcus.

Re: Two freshmen may start at LB
The leading tackler of all time started at LB his freshman year and who is it? Marcus Marek. He was a great college player. Also, Randy Gradishar played when freshman could not play or he would have started as a freshman. Woody called Randy the greatest player he ever coached and that is high praise.

Re: Two freshmen may start at LB
If two freshman LBers start next season I will be somewhat disappointed. II can maybe see some PT for some but not starting.

Re: Two freshmen may start at LB
I think Perry might outgrow linebacker and become a VIPER/LEO. You could tell he was getting better game after game. I think with 10-15 pounds of muscle this kid will be killin it this spring.
Shazier played like a 1st team AA the last 4-5 games. I think the year of strength training will help these guys.
I don't know whats up with Grant and Crowell...both might wash out if they do not get it. We will know more by the spring game.
I think MLB is a vopid that need to be filled. Our schedule is great for a young defense. Our offense is gonna put up around 45 PPG...We need our defense to be solid not great to start the season. I want them peaking late.
