RE: Why michigan will never be great

RE: Why michigan will never be great

Well Brandon better look in the mirror, he ain't getting no national titles in his lifetime.
Pizza boy got mocked by his past company a year ago in mods, because they had to redo his flawed strategy to reinvent themselves.
Most schools aspire to hire Pizza CEO's as AD's, not.
Brandon's gay scarfs are so cute, what he expects and what he will not see is the big difference.
abbysdad wrote: Dave Brandon is a very hands on and demanding athletic director. He expects Michigan to compete regularly for championships in both football and basketball and he has stated he will not settle for less. This is a completely different attitude than Bill Martin, who was in charge for most of the previous decade, and was a bean counter who was more concerned about profits than wins.

WTF this guy has a very disappointing season and they grade his performance an A? If this was Ohio State we would grade him a C at best. Like Krenzel says when we stop demanding excellence we become wisconsin. Maybe michigan has already become wisconsin.

What Urban did was an A. Hoke is a C (not just in cup size).
You guys in are in for a rude awakening on a November 2013 day in Ann Arbor.

Hoke has been erratic at his previous stops... good seasons, bad seasons.  JT was a proven winner at YSU.  Meyer was a winner at all his stops.

Like it or not, Hoke was put in a bit of a hole by the former offensive structure. I don't think he's handled it fantastically, but with Denard at the helm, there wasn't a ton to do but wait it out. The problem is he didn't get a top notch QB last year that would be able to step in either this year or next and start using an offense he planned to use.

This wouldn't be as big of a problem if they had a great RB coming in or some big WRs that could help out, but they don't. Michigan won't really be back until they can find a good QB and commit to a style on offense.

True. I wouldn't be particularly hopeful about their prospects for the next 2-4 years. I think they've dug themselves a hole between the problems at QB and skill positions.

And just a bunch of motor mouths.  And they will all be 0-4 just like little Mikey the biggest motor mouth of all.  They will all be disappointed with their choice after four years but sometimes you have to live and learn.  By the way, how's that five star QB doing?  I hear he is magnificent in camps.  Maybe Michigan can have 12 camps next year instead of games.

I am in another thread over there.  Good, that means you get under this skin for posting the truth.
Hurts Michigan fans to admit with 1/2 a national title in almost 70 years and no Big Ten title since 2003, with embarrassing losses to Toledo and App State thrown in, they are irrelevant.
Travel and get off these boards, no fans bring up Michigan or Hoke as elite, except here because delusional culture dimiwts from GBW come over here.
OSU and Meyer, different.  College fans seen what OSU did with Tress, knew we hit a bump in the rock, and we got a rock star coach in Meyer.
Michigan is irrelevant as it comes.
If Michigan is irrevelant, why are Ohio recruits picking Michigan over OSU? Let's see, we landed Kyle Kalis, Ben Gedeon, Dymonte Thomas, Michael McCray--all guys that Meyer wanted.

Re: Why michigan will never be great

Clearly Hoke has improved them. Just watching them, you can tell their D in particular is better coached.

That said, they benefitted greatly from the absence of John Simon in the OSU game (I don't care who Michigan was missing on O, Simon's absence was huge for OSU), and Lattimore etc from the South Carolina game.

At the risk of repeating myself, I will say again: if Tressel was still here, I wouldn't lose one second's sleep over the possibility of Hoke beating OSU.

And given Meyer's incredible record in rivalry games (something like 21-2)...
and the fact that he's from Ohio & worked at OSU before, he clearly "gets" The Game...
plus the fact that Tressel set the standard vs Michigan for all subsequent coaches to reach (unless Meyer tops it by going unbeaten)...
well, I feel confident with Urban heading up OSU in The Game.

All that, plus the fact that anyone can say whatever they want about Hoke's recruiting, but Meyer is a phenomenal recruiter. I don't expect him to lose that war. A battle here or there, maybe. Overall? Not happening.

The jury is still out on Hoke. The jury is not out on Urban.

If Bo couldn't win a National title, Hoke won't even have a chance.

Shared title in 70 years? Michigan hasn't been great since WW2. Meyer will never lose to Hoke.

Brady Hoke is a joke

Good to see Hoke picked up where Carr left off. 5 loss season.

THAT'S CLASSIC!! How true it is and I can only thank scUM for hiring this genius. They thought Carr's record against Tressel was bad, just wait and see what Urban will do.

Was Brady seriously passed over by Indiana and Minnesota?

You barely won this year at home. We are both recruiting well. It's cool to dislike Hoke, but he's 1-1 versus ohio. Long series ahead.

Hoke is 0-1 against Urban Meyer at Ohio State.

This.

Lucky for Urban DR wasn't healthy and that our starting rb was hurt otherwise.......

I'll take Hoke's 1-1 record with RRod's recruits over osu.  Once he gets his players and his system implemented watch out.

He is a good coach, has great coordinators and is recruiting at an elite level, that nobody can deny.

Actually, you barely won at home last year with our lame duck coaching staff.  This year two, fluke offensive plays were the only thing you mustered all day.  Agree that we are both recruiting well but Hoke is really 1-0 vs. a guy who has never been a head coach and 0-1 against Meyer.

Arguing that a proposition is true because belief in it has good consequences, or that it is false because belief in it has bad consequences is often an irrelevancy.

And you barely won the year before, at home, against the worst OSU team in two decades with a freshmen QB. You're right, it is going to be a long series ahead for SCUM.

How did Michigan score 3 touchdowns on 2 fluke plays? That's impressive!

Hey genius... barely winning is still winning. Your team lost. Go play in traffic.

And, in case you just started following your team in the past few years, 'The Game' is often decided by a TD or less....although the Rich Rod years were pretty pathetic for TSUN.

Hoke may - or may not- be a good coach. Urban is a great coach, & has the crystal footballs to prove it.

Hoke could have DR & anyone else, if OSU gets John Simon. In that case, the margin of victory for the Buckeyes is greater than 5 points.

And don't forget that "1-1 record" includes a win at home against essentially a lame duck team with a true freshman QB.

Ok, 80% of your offensive production came on two fluke plays.  tsun fans are the only people on earth who think the game was as close as the score.  I'm impressed you mouth breathers are able to operate a computer.
