Why michigan will never be great

Why michigan will never be great

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=162&f=2019& t=11128501

WTF this guy has a very disappointing season and they grade his performance an A? If this was Ohio State we would grade him a C at best. Like Krenzel says when we stop demanding excellence we become wisconsin. Maybe michigan has already become wisconsin.

What Urban did was an A. Hoke is a C (not just in cup size).

3-9 seasons will do that to you

One thing I noticed from scum's board in reading a few threads after the loss to SCarol...Hoke took over a team with minimal talent left over from RichRod.  LOL...

Re: Why michigan will never be great

That was some maize-shine pumpers there!

Not sure how Brutus gives Hoke an A in player development.  Lewan is the ONLY guy that has impressed me.  Maybe counting Kovak gong from WO to starter (albeit a cruddy one) counts as development.

I guess my view is skewed, and yes OSU did have a better cupboard than what RichRod left (but not as bare as they would think).

Re: Why michigan will never be great

This is why scUM will not be good with H = hype
                            O = over
                            K = knowledge
                            E = endures
They think they know what to do to improve their program, where OSU knows what to do to improve their program and they showed it by bringing in Urban.

8-5 for a team that recruits like whine-again? yeah, that's a solid C performance,

Do not beat that they will not be a good team with all the top recruits they are bringing in. Talent makes a big difference and for what ever reason kids seem to what to play for him.

RE: Why michigan will never be great

Exactly why our standards should remain high. That historically bad season 2 years ago didn't stop our hunger to be at the top not one bit. When we accept mediocrity and just put up with it then that's exactly what will happen. We're definitely an elite program and our fanbase keeps the standards high just like our coaching staff does

Re: Why michigan will never be great

Michigan has brought in some nice young defensive players. I think they will be good again sooner than later, which as a PSU fan pains me to say. Remember that Hoke did just win 11 games and a BCS bowl last year.

Haters gonna hate.

Good for a laugh.
SOJ has always been the biggest joke.  Big fish in a brain dead pond at GBW.  Jis cute little picture with Barwis, and the country club is over and domination with it was good for non stop laughter.
I am in another thread over there.  Good, that means you get under this skin for posting the truth.
Hurts Michigan fans to admit with 1/2 a national title in almost 70 years and no Big Ten title since 2003, with embarrassing losses to Toledo and App State thrown in, they are irrelevant.
Travel and get off these boards, no fans bring up Michigan or Hoke as elite, except here because delusional culture dimiwts from GBW come over here.
OSU and Meyer, different.  College fans seen what OSU did with Tress, knew we hit a bump in the rock, and we got a rock star coach in Meyer.
Michigan is irrelevant as it comes.
Install BS deflectors for GBW posters.

If Michigan is irrevelant, why are Ohio recruits picking Michigan over OSU? Let's see, we landed Kyle Kalis, Ben Gedeon, Dymonte Thomas, Michael McCray--all guys that Meyer wanted.

Recruiting means absolutely zero unless it turns into wins. If Hoke continues to recruit well and turn in 8-5 then what does that tell you?

Agree with OP - I'm very happy they think this year's team going 8-5 is an "A" for its head coach...  Wasn't LLLLLoyd an "A", too?  biggrin

Michigan will be a distant also ran in the Big 10 as long as Meyer is at OSU. I expect they will lose badly to ND and OSU at home in 2013.

Re: Why michigan will never be great

Once they finally get that elusive quality road win, they can move to an A+

2003 scUMmers, 2003.

Ironically, probably the last time they actually deserved an A!

Hmmm not so sure I agree with you.  Along the OL and DL absolutely.  Skill players very, very average.  Shane Morris has looked very, very pedestrian  I am shocked that he is still considered elite.  He was DREADFUL this weekend when ever he had to face pressure.  He was not that good in his junior or senior season when he faced good defenses... what he will see at the collegiate level is a who different level... I am not buying his hype at all... I see a guy that reminds me a lot of past OSU QB's that look great when no one is getting pressure and then fold like a cheap suit when they feel the heat.

If he turns out to be a bust(I think he will) they will be in very big trouble.  Gardner will be a senior next season and after that.... YIKES
You win with people

Re: Why michigan will never be great

TTUN beat a bad Va Tech team that pretty much own them in the game.

Neither team deserved to be in the Sugar Bowl

A very good but not great Alabama team absolutely embarrassed TTUN on a netrual field

TTUN is the 4th or 5th best program in the Big 10 right now
