Did anyone see the pictures of Johnny Football boozing it up
at that club drinking thousand dollar bottles of champagne on NYE? They’ve been
floating around the internet the last few days (sorry don’t have a link)

I don’t care he was underage drinking. 99.9% of guys do
that.

But where did he get the funds to pay for these bottles? I
realize his parents have some coin – but they are paying for courtside
Heat/Mavericks tickets and now they are paying for him to just go pop bottles
at any price?

I’ve heard no mention of this except on TMZ. Apparently they
report college news now as much as ESPN does.

Again I don’t care he’s not 21 – and I actually like him a
lot. I think his personality is good for football. I just find it funny no one
has mentioned his bar tab had to be in the thousands after spending thousands
of his “own money” on courtside NBA tickets. Even if my parents had bank they
wouldn’t be giving me funds for those types of expenditures.

Of course I’m not a Heisman winner either. So what do I
know.

Just curious if anyone else saw the pictures. If I missed a different thread please delete.

Who freaking cares!

The fans of the Tat-5 scandal.  Probably the same people who take pictures of our qb's car, publish the interest rate his mom got on the car she bought for him, and dig up Ohio DMV records.

Such a quality reply.

I'm not saying anyone cares or even should care. I merely created a new topic on a message board for a topic that hasn't been brought up.

A college kid sitting courtside at an NBA game or being on TMZ drinking a thousand dollars worth of booze is worth a post.

Is it worth a bunch of replies or anyone caring? Maybe not. I'm not hating on Johnny Football. I posted an observation based on pictures.

Kind of hope he is a flash in the pan. Really would not like him to be the one to win another Heisman and tie Archie.

Re: Johnny Football and thousand dollar bar tabs...

As for the underage drinking question, I believe his father was there. Under the TX criminal code, if you are underage and drinking, it is an affirmative defense if your off age parent (or spouse) is present. That isn't a "get out of jail free" card, but an affirmative defense PLUS Heisman Trophy EQUALS legal.

"Sec. 106.04. CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR. (a) A minor commits an offense if he consumes an alcoholic beverage...
(b) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the alcoholic beverage was consumed in the visible presence of the minor’s adult parent, guardian, or spouse."

But it was Texas, where the Gestapo-esque TABC arrests people for public intoxication if they are drunk in a private establishment. So who knows?

RE: Johnny Football and thousand dollar bar tabs...

I've mentioned my ties to the Kerrville area before. The Manziels are millionairess. They own a lot of real estate in South Texas. It's one of the reasons Johnny's many legal indiscretions have been swept under the rug and they, especially Johnny, are not opposed to flaunting their wealth. It's one of the reasons they are not liked by many in the area.

FWIW, the club where the kid partied at charged a $75 entry fee for their NYE party where Johnny was at and with that came complementary champagne at midnight and the comped champagne probably was Dom... it's that kind of club. Comping 100 bottles of Dom at midnight is more than made up for by the hundreds of martinis they sell every night at $50 a pop.

While it sounds and looks VERY bad, it's very possible everything here was on the up and up... aside from the age thing of course and that is Avenu Lounge's problem. Their TABC license could be in jeopardy after this.

I hope Heff give Johnny Football control of Playboy right now. Pass on the smoking Jacket and the girls will follow. This is what has been missing from college football for the last 20 years a alcohol drinking, smoking, money throwing, lady magnet Heisman winner. Don't be a hater.

His family are very, very, very wealthy.  Great Grandfather struck it rich in Texas, with oil.  The family basically ran Tyler Texas and some suggest that they still do.

Dont know what their net worth is but from the reading I've done, I get the impression they are worth
Where have people gotten this crap from? I guess his must be moonlighting when he is selling cars. Same thing with his mother who is a real estate agent and not even a broker. If someone would actually find out the facts, both of Johnny Football's grandparents are far from well off.

She probably makes more money than the OP does.

If Johnny Football is dating a model, NCAA should consider that an illegal benefit. No way that dude gets a hot chick if he couldnt throw a football. T Pryor can't get a tattoo yet Manzel gets to date a model? Silly NCAA.

He also dropped a few grand for two NBA games he sat courtside.. Now, I've had friends whose parent were rich and they still weren't dropping 5-7K over the holidays on sporting events and NYE parties.

RE: Johnny Football and thousand dollar bar tabs...

Maybe that is the problem with college athletics?

Some come from big money and don't need more.

Some come from nothing and can't have any.

Manziel is no better athlete / player than Jones, Richardson, or Pryor. But he can live a star's life on his family's money. Whereas the three you listed were supposed to live a star's life on a scholarship alone, particularly when at least 2 of them had family responsibilities with Pryor's father, and Richardson's children.
stoptothink wrote: His parents don't just have some coin, Manziel is a trust fund baby thanks to a grandfather who had some Texas oil trusts. Not to mention his father is a multi-millionaire custom home builder and developer, and he has an uncle the owns a very successful men's clothing chain. Sure he could have gotten some freebies, but there is nothing eyebrow raising about a spoiled rich kid partying it up, he would be living this life if he wasn't a football star. These articles are getting a little silly. This is not Julio Jones, or Trent Richardson, or yes, Terrell Pryor; kids who came from absolutely nothing and all of the sudden have very nice cars and thousands of dollars in clothing and jewelry. Either someone actually investigate it, or leave him alone.

Serious question here, does this kid ever go to class? I read the other day he was in Connecticut visiting a sick child at a hospital. Just seems like every time you hear/see something about him he is somewhere outside of school.

BTW this is not a bashing on him cause I think the kid can ball.

RE: Johnny Football and thousand dollar bar tabs...

I was shocked how many people I met when I moved to Texas that had oil rights/shares from daddy or grandaddy. It's a slew of people that get a royalty each month like a Saudi Arabian sheik. I had known 2 sisters for about 3 years here and they would travel all over the world. I thought they worked in the fashion industry because they would be sporting new cars, clothes, jewelry each month. One day I asked them, what do you all do exactly. They were like, we do nothing, we own a few oil wells. Grandpa gave it to them. Lot of money in Texas...

Oh and when I was at UF, the golfers, tennis players and swimmers all seem to have wealthy families. Most of them had money to spend since their parents didn't have to foot the scholarship bill.

Most football players families were flat broke. The worst was the ones that lived 1,000 miles away and couldn't afford to go home when the city shut down on occasion.

In Kansas, not Texas, you have a lot of people trying to sell land but maintain mineral rights. Thus if you own the land, but not the mineral rights, if oil is found on your land the previous owner of the mineral rights would be the one to profit.

It's sick seeing Manzeil with money to waste when many college athletes / students don't have enough money for essentials.

A lot of $30K millionaires in Texas as well, particularly in Dallas.
