Johnny Football and thousand dollar bar tabs...
So I have a question – and maybe it comes off as a bitter
Ohio State fan – but that’s not the intention (or maybe just half the intention
haha)
Did anyone see the pictures of Johnny Football boozing it up
at that club drinking thousand dollar bottles of champagne on NYE? They’ve been
floating around the internet the last few days (sorry don’t have a link)
I don’t care he was underage drinking. 99.9% of guys do
that.
But where did he get the funds to pay for these bottles? I
realize his parents have some coin – but they are paying for courtside
Heat/Mavericks tickets and now they are paying for him to just go pop bottles
at any price?
I’ve heard no mention of this except on TMZ. Apparently they
report college news now as much as ESPN does.
Again I don’t care he’s not 21 – and I actually like him a
lot. I think his personality is good for football. I just find it funny no one
has mentioned his bar tab had to be in the thousands after spending thousands
of his “own money” on courtside NBA tickets. Even if my parents had bank they
wouldn’t be giving me funds for those types of expenditures.
Of course I’m not a Heisman winner either. So what do I
know.
Just curious if anyone else saw the pictures. If I missed a different thread please delete.

You said his parents have some coin...so haven't you answered your question? I've saved over $30k in college funds for each of my 7 and 5 year olds. If either one of them gets a full ride, like Johnny Football did, I would buy them several $1k champagne bottles.....especially if they win the Heisman. Plus, have you seen his model girl friend? She probably makes more money than the OP does.

Recent release Dom Perignon is about $190 a bottle retail in Ohio.
Bars would charge more, perhaps $500 depending.
We don't know who paid for the bottle, or even if it was full.

His family are very, very, very wealthy. Great Grandfather struck it rich in Texas, with oil. The family basically ran Tyler Texas and some suggest that they still do. Dont know what their net worth is but from the reading I've done, I get the impression they are worth You win with people

McElroy picked up a tab while at Bama that was I believe close to $1,500.00, after he took his lineman out to dinner.
I am sure McElroy, Johnny Football, or any kid that has parents with medium to above medium income have their parents CC's on file for their respective use.
I dated a girl in College that had her fathers American Express Card with a $4,000/monthly allowance... those were great times !!!!

Makes me a little jealous. At the New Years party I was at, we had some cheap crap, that was just plain nasty. Good thing I had some Makers Mark for a chaser. As far as Johnny boy goes, I don't like to speculate on such things. Much rather deal with facts.

I brought up the basketball tickets thing to a couple of my neighbor's friends at their NYE's party. The confirmed what you listed below as they know the Manziel's (we live in Texas). They said $1K to them is more or less $20-30 to your average $150K average HHI family. They don't have "eff you" money per se, but close to it.... BuckeyeRob wrote:

His parents don't just have some coin, Manziel is a trust fund baby thanks to a grandfather who had some Texas oil trusts. Not to mention his father is a multi-millionaire custom home builder and developer, and he has an uncle the owns a very successful men's clothing chain. Sure he could have gotten some freebies, but there is nothing eyebrow raising about a spoiled rich kid partying it up, he would be living this life if he wasn't a football star. These articles are getting a little silly. This is not Julio Jones, or Trent Richardson, or yes, Terrell Pryor; kids who came from absolutely nothing and all of the sudden have very nice cars and thousands of dollars in clothing and jewelry. I recently moved from about about 90min east of Kerrville. I had known about the Manziel's way before Johnny played a down of football at TAMU.
