Notre Dame is here to stay as a title contender...not a fluke

Kelly is winning with recruits from the Weiss era right now and from when he had so so recruit classes. He is now recruiting as good as anyone in the nation. He also got Jaylon Smith to replace Teo and will have another conerstone middle lb for another 3 - 4 years. That program is set for a long time to be good with Kelly.

He is a hell of a coach and he is a tactician who simply outcoached his competition this year and had an offense lacking playmakers. He schooled Kiffen this year their biggest rival and set foot to him to take notice.

Well if you don't see how good that team is coached, then hats off to you. They have a real lacking of offense speed, yet the guy has 0 loses this year to this point. It's impressive to think if he gets some playmakers in this year and see what he can do.I really dont like Notre Dame, but the world has to take notice. That's no fluke.

It's not like they've been recruiting poorly.

2013 - 1st
2012 - 20th
2011 - 10th
2010 - 14th
2009 - 21st
2008 - 2nd

That's cause they don't have any offense speed. This recruit class may bring them what they lack,so that's why they are not too be taken as a fluke.I believe the new 10 year war will be Notre Dame vs Ohio St title games,Hoke is not on the same level.

I have seen Hoke get beat by Notre Dame this year when they really had equal talent, but Kelly outcoached him.Hoke also had UscE beat, but stumbled late in the game. What I have seen leads me to think if Saban leaves, the new 10 year war is Kelly vs Meyer.

11 seniors starters says they will take a step back next year, but yes overall they have found their coach to go w amazing recruiting, so they have finally returned to glory after 2 decades.

Well, duh. Some of us talked about that likelihood before BK even got there. If Michigan had been smart (arguably an oxymoron, I know), they'd have gone after him (& I don't think they did, somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Well, next fall in the 2013 season, Notre Dame will have 7 starters back on Offense ( 3 OL, 2 WR, 1 RB, and 1 QB),  and on Defense the Fighting Irish will have 8 starters back on Defense ( 3 DL, 2 LB, 2 CB, and 1 Safety).

Plus, Notre Dame is expecting to get 3 year starter S Jamoris Slaughter back for a 6th Year of eligibilty in 2013 after tearing his Achilles Tendon versus Michigan State, and 2 other Secondary guys (CB Lo Wood and S Austin Collinsworth back again in 2013 from season-ending injuries last August).  Wood would have been a starting CB this year, and Collinsworth was going to be the Nickel Back.

Almost all year long, when Notre Dame has gone into their Dime Defense in the Secondary they've had 3 True Freshmen, 1 Red-Shirt Freshmen, 1 Junior, and 1 Senior (Zeke Motta) back there for a good majority of the season (since Jamoris Slaughter got hurt against MSU in Game # 3 of the season).

Thus, that is 15 Starters coming back for Notre Dame in 2013 (actually, it could be 16 if you choose to count Slaughter returning next year), so your above numbers are really, really off.

They still haven't passed the eye-test IMHO. Wait until tomorrow night against Alabama-all of their weaknesses will be exposed. I don't see ND being a consistant title contender for another 2-3 years. Once Kelly fills his recruiting coffers--look out.

Well, Brian Kelly is doing really well with the Class of 2013 recruiting (every major media outlet has Notre Dame Ranked in the Top 3 right now, and ND still has 2 more spots to fill in this class with high-end kids).

Plus, like I said Notre Dame will have 15 starters coming back in 2013, so I'd like to think that the Fighting Irish should be ranked in the Top 5 to start the season next fall.

They're definitely better than they were three years ago, and should be a pre-season top ten team next year, and top five wouldn't be much of a surprise.

Watching their DL vs. Alabama's standout O-line is going to be a joy to watch.

I am going to still lean toward fluke instead of title cont. But hey playing in the game you need to take advantage when you get there. If they lose and it isn't close then all those close games this year will just look like a fluke.

Re: Notre Dame is here to stay as a title contender...not a

experto, he really out coached Pitt this year. If it was not for a missed FG in OT Pitt wins, so did Kelly out coach his opponent. He really out coached Stanford too, if it is not for a bad call against Stanford, Stanford wins the game, that is another game he must have out coached his opponent to win. He out coached Hoke to beat scUM this year, too bad DR had 5 turnovers in that game and ND won again because of Kelly's great coaching. I could go on and on, but there is no use. I am not saying that Kelly is not a good coach and that he can't recruit, but ONE SEASON does not make a coach an immortal.

You very conviently forgot about the Michigan State game in East Lansing, the Michigan game in South Bend, the Miami (Fla.) game in Chicago, the Oklahoma game in Norman, and the U.S.C. game in Los Angeles.
