Really fancy ones too.  I can't help but notice them when I'm watching NCAA football or basketball.

Anybody else notice this?

They are prevalent in everyday life, so I don't notice unless someone has them in excess.

I don't assume that they were freebies, if that's what you're getting at.

I'd liked to know how the Morris twins paid for theirs.

If you're getting your college paid for and are a good prospect to go the the NBA/NFL, I would assume your family would be more than willing to give you nice things now.  The same goes for football players.  Even middle class families can get their kids nice cars and things if college is paid for and they think their kid is going to be making millions in a few years.  It's one of the reasons I can't understand why people make a big deal about football players driving nice cars.  Family members will just go into debt to get these kids nice things knowing their kid will instantly get them out of it once they sign their million dollar contract.

well, if i give my neighbor a discounted (or free) tattoo, and also give my friend one, there is not case against the neighbor, as im giving that discount to others.

That was the non-factor with the OSU players and cars.  No way can any used car guy get hit because they are surely doing nice deals for tons of people.

That and the NCAA doesnt have a set definition, only "excessive" whatever that means.

I would assume they are considering many of these kids come from very poor backgrounds. The tattoos many of these kids have cost thousands.

I'm paying out of pocket 15k or so a year for my twins between both. Give them free rides and I could afford some different luxuries for them.

Just because the family is poor doesn't mean there aren't "alternative ways" to make money that they're doing .

I guess that's my first reaction when I see them...Maybe not freebies, but some of the ones I see I know are very pricey...Maybe there aren't any dots to connect, and it's just the whole trip we've all been on over the past few years, but I can't help but see them when I see the parade of tattoos out there...
