Wouldn't this be awesome?

Screw the BCS and the NCAA. Lets start this next Saturday.

January 12, 2013
Notre Dame (1) vs Florida (8) @ Dallas (Cowboys Stadium)
Ohio St (2) vs Georgia (7) @ Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium)
Alabama (3) vs Stanford (6) @ Phoenix (University of Phoenix Stadium)
Oregon (4) vs Texas A&M (5) @ Atlanta (Georgia Dome)

January 19, 2013
1/8 winner vs 4/5 winner @ New Orleans (Mercedes-Benz Superdome)
2/3 winner vs 3/6 winner @ Miami (Sun Life Stadium)

January 26, 2013
Championship Game @ Pasedena (Rose Bowl Stadium)

Any predictions?

I agree, but that leaves A M out. They migh be the best righ now. No way they don't go to 8+teams a some point.

Agreed. Just wait for the 4 team playoff. Someone at 5/6 is going to get screwed. ESPN will dictate who those 4 teams are.

In my 8 team playoff I have Oregon playing A&M. That would be a great game.

Agreed you need to go deeper than 4 if you're gonna do it. 16 would be ideal. All other divisions do it.

Didn't Florida just get destroyed by Louisville?

i think 4 is enough, because the idea is to find the best team only, not the top 3 teams.  In a sense, the regular season is a playoff.  March madness has ruined the regular season for NCAA basketball by letting in the top 64 teams. the regular season is now meaningless, because all that matters is reaching the tourny where the real games are played, and if you can't finish top 64, then you aren't close to the best.

Yea, but they were # 3 and had wins over A&M, South Carolina, LSU, and FSU.

KSU, nope, 2 losses worse than FL and not as good a resume of wins.
FSU, nope, 2 losses, lost to Florida.
South Carolina, nope, 2 losses, lost to Florida.
Oklahoma, nope, just got waxed by A&M.
Clemson, if South Carolina is out I can't move Clemson up.
Oregon St, no way.

I'd rather 1 or 2 teams get in that don't deserve it that 1 or 2 teams get left out that do deserve it.

Not intentional but my opinion was those were the 8 best teams. Argue another team over Florida and Georgia?

FSU and KSU. That would get a Big 12 and ACC team. Louisville?

I saw KSU play Baylor and Oregon. Nothing I saw made them a top 10 team. I had Florida in based on their résumé and H2H win @ FSU.

Then there is really no value on big regular season games.

Re: Wouldn't this be awesome?

Sure there is. The regular season is your campaign to be in the top 8 of 120. This is true in basketball where 68 of 347 make it. 20% would make it in basketball. 6.67% would make it in football.

That would be awesome but I'd bump it forward so it's more over Christmas break.  You may also have to play the first few games at one of the team's home stadiums because I don't know too many fan bases that have a whole lot of fans that can travel around the country for multiple weeks in a row.

A&M lost like 2 out of 3 of it's big games. how do they deserve to be in the playoff?

1) conference tourneys ruin the regular season, not the NCAA.  Exciting? yes.  Should the winner get a bid?  no.  should go to regular season champ.  Should START the conference season with a tourney

2) with that said, the regular season is just fine.

Agreed, w 2 losses you have no argument, BUT if there was an 8+ team playoff right now you'd be a fool to bet against A M.

Agreed that they would have as good a shot as anyone but they just don't deserve it.

RE: Wouldn't this be awesome?

Ok, we are dreaming here. You don't have to agree or disagree with having an 8 team playoff vs 4 or 16.

Lets change this thread to the following.

Based on what you have seen this year, who are your 8 teams that would make an 8 team playoff and what would the seeds be.

Ready, go.

Fine Suwanee, I'll take A M to win it all, beating ND and OSU. Who you got?
