Not sure about that, but let's suppose it's true. The undertone of this thread is that overweight coaches lack discipline and self respect and thus can't possibly be successful.  If we are applying that logic to Hoke, Hayes was clearly significantly overweight.  Let's suppose Hoke is fatter, What is the magic percentage of body fat a coach can't exceed to be successful, 32%, 34%, 36%?  I love facts and science and I am just trying to educate myself.

Hays was the exception to the rule.

Brandon is a marketing guy. That's what AD's do now. The sports angel at Michigan is a necessary evil for them. Michigan will probably never win another NC in either basketball or football, but to the academics there, who wish UM was Northwestern, that will be just fine.
As long as 115,000 dupes fill up the stadium, and another millions of dupes buy the overpriced crap to wear, UM will be happy.

Bill Martin was the athletic director at the time. Adidas offered the highest contract of all time for college.
