Too many B1G teams on NY Day
Do we really need four B1G games on at the same time? The B1G should spread their teams out throughout the bowl season so we don't get stuck flipping channels to get bits and pieces of each game.
Also these 6-6 and 8-4 B1G teams shouldn't be playing on NY Day. This should be a reward. I get that the bowls want them due to big alumni bases but they need to mix in some Pac 12 and Big 12 teams to create some better games.
The Cap One and Rose Bowl only having B1G teams on NY Day would be fine.

I would love to hear an explanation by ESPN / B1G for this.

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
Very stupid scheduling...
At least spread the games out today, so there's no more then 2 games on at a time. It's like their cramming for finals.

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
This has been my second biggest complaint about NYD CFB the past few years (number one has been the god awful game lineup in general). I agree with above and would like to hear an explanation by the powers that be as to why this "makes sense".

At least they know the difference between artificial and natural turf!!

A LONG time ago, the NYD bowls were the Big Four, and then lesser bowls horned in and the Big Bowls often left.

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
Delaney has said in the past that he wanted to own New Year's Day -- whatever game people watch will have a Big Ten team.
I don't agree with him, but the only bowl games I have watched for more than a couple of minutes this bowl season are the games today, so maybe he is on to something.

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
If you win the games its good to own New Year's Day. When you lose the games the strategy is not so good. Purdue is getting embarrassed. So, unless Big 10 (Northwestern and Nebraska or Michigan) can win 2 of 3 games v. SEC you are looking at 1-3 or 0-4. Even if Nebraska, Michigan, or Northwestern lose close competitive games it will be all about 1-3 or 0-4. kodok wrote: Delaney has said in the past that he wanted to own New Year's Day -- whatever game people watch will have a Big Ten team.

Re: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
I chuckle at how the Sugar, Cotton, and Fiesta Bowls have vacated NYD.
It used to be a good season to play in a NYD bowl. Now, other than the Rose Bowl, it's a consolation prize.

Re: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
I don't mind seeing a lot of B1G teams on NYDay but I just don't like 3 of them being played at the same time. I didn't think about it but the Rose Bowl is probably responsible for all those games being played in the same time slot. OSUOne wrote: Do we really need four B1G games on at the same time? Re: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
What? Someone said that Delaney is responsible for all these B1G games on Jan 1st and that they don't like all the games being played at the same time. I merely mentioned that the Rose Bowl probably made sure that all these games were played before their game. It's not a knock on the RB but pushes all these other games to earlier time slots. One huge key to dealing with all the conferences teams playing at the same time is don't bother with Purdue or Minnesota.

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
I liked it better when it was just the Outback and Capital One we had affiliations with. With an 11 AM and 1pm start there was enough separation to catch most of both games. Now its just silly with 2 nooners and 2 1pm games.

OOPS: maybe I don't need a beer!! You would appear to like the term "fen", which I infer is "f'en", which might be short for, well, something I can't post explicitly. A "fen" is a kind of swamp if memory serves, the kind they have in New Orleans environs.

The Cap One and Rose Bowl only having B1G teams on NY Day would be fine. Gator, The Rose Bowl has always been on at a 2pm PST Start. There were years where the Sugar Bowl and even Orange Bowl coincided with the Rose Bowl, but both Orange and Sugar Bowls are worth a Hell of alot more as far as importance to College Football, than is some silly Outback Bowl featuring 2 teams with 8-4 records. You get the drift? The whole reason the Rose Bowl has many viewers is because it is indeed the Oldest and most Traditional Game. It be silly to put either or any of the Gator, Capital One, or Outback, or any other Bowl which is Non-BCS in the Rose Bowls way or to where it detracts attention away from the Rose Bowl. If the Gators were ever invited in the future to play Jan.1st in the Rose Bowl, and I'm not talking the NC Title Game, I'm saying if ever an SEC team was to substitute for a PAC 12 or Big Ten team, would you want the Gator Bowl, Outback, Capital One or Heart of Dallas bowl on at the same time? I didn't think so. FIGHT ON!

RE: Too many B1G teams on NY Day
I really don't care what time the Rose Bowl starts but other bowls should not have to bow down to the RB on when they want to start their games. 5pm PST seems very inconvenient for the 4 other bowls IMO.
I understand tradition but I am in no way in favor of tradition that doesn't make for practicality today. The RB and the B10 and Pac10 ties are the main reason we don't have an 8 team playoff. Screw the RB.
