Re: SEC LOST?

tongue  well, as many of you know, I bash one of our ex coaches almost every single chance I get  ( I said almost )....but there is no question if Les Miles would have run 3 straight plays up the middle, Clemson would have used all 3 TO's..the 3 LSU passes didn't get a 1st down, take time off the clock or force Clemson to use any TO's......and LSU would have had a much better chance of holding on to their 2 point lead.......giving Clemson  the ball with 3 TO's & 1:39 left didn't work out...& I was glad Clemson won...tongue and it showed that "T-ball" may not be such a bad thingtongue

Re: SEC LOST?

Whatever mistakes Miles made, the teams looked about equal in ability on the field, and Clemson lost one of its stars early.  It was a good win for Clemson after being upset at home by USCe (who lost to LSU earlier).

Clemson might be decent next season.  LSU needs a QB among other things.  UGA plays them both next year.

Re: SEC LOST?

Interestingly, the CFA Bowl gets the second pick of ACC teams after the BCS bowls, and in this case the second best team in the ACC.  They pay that team more than their SEC pick, which comes after the CapOne, Outback, and Cotton, and of course the second BCS bowl team, so LSU is in effect the 6th team selected by a bowl from the SEC.

CFA has made several attempts to get a higher SEC selection but has not succeeded as yet.  It's good to see a relatively minor bowl sell out again and have a good atmosphere.

Yea I love watching the CFA bowl on new years eve. It's really a fun way to start the night. In all honesty, I think it seems more big than some of the new years day bowls now. I would LOVE to have the big 10 in there eventually. But for now, it looks like it's all ACC vs. SEC.

Re: SEC LOST?

Suggesting 8th ranked LSU is the 6th best team in the SEC. You sound just like the unbearable talking heads on tv. Let me guess if there was an 8 team playoff you would select 7 SEC teams plus Notre Dame.

Here's hoping that the LSU loss is the first of many for that obnoxious conference.

Re: SEC LOST?

IMO after Alabama and Florida, teams like LSU, Georgia, and Texas A&M were interchangeable.

They didn't play a lot of head to head games. However, when they did they went back and forth.

LSU beat South Carolina, and Texas A&M and lost to Alabama and Florida.
Georgia beat Florida, and lost to South Carolina and Alabama.
Texas A&M beat Alabama, and lost to LSU and Florida.

LSU easily could be labeled SEC #3-5. Based on strength of schedule (playing 4 of the other 5) I would list them at #3 since both of their losses were very close.

I don't know how they get labeled SEC #6 when they and South Carolina went 10-2 and LSU beat South Carolina head to head, particularly since SC is playing without Lattimore.

The CFA Bowl gets the sixth pick, fact. That may not be the sixth best team. I agree that LSU is about tied as mark says. My post is factual.

Re: SEC LOST?

The CFA has a nice setup considering it's not a "major bowl". Ticket sales are always good and normally have lively crowds.  Mathcing the SEC and ACC in Atlanta, which is central to almost all teams was a wise business decision.

I agree.  This loss was on Les Miles...a Michigan man.  It's definitely more a loss for the Big Ten than a loss for the SEC.

Really? Funny, I don't remember it being claimed as more of a national championship for the Big Ten than for the SEC.

No one spins wins and losses like the SEC...no one.

We have a really great opportunity on our hands with the Michigan game to do what the SEC fans do.  If Michigan wins, we simply talk smack to the SEC fans on this board.  If Michigan loses, we raid Stadium and Main and talk smack to Michigan fans.  It's what the SEC fans do.  IN that way you can't lose.

Re: SEC LOST?

There's a big difference in being 6th picked team and 6th best team.

I can see why they would be picked low. They didn't make a BCS bowl. Strike one. Strike two.

They weren't going to get picked for a Florida bowl over Georgia and South Carolina. They weren't going to get picked for the Cotton Bowl over Texas A&M. Strike three, four, and five.

ACC #2 Clemson beat SEC #3-5 LSU.
