RE: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....

The first football game I ever watched was the 2002 National Championship game....I was hooked from the moment the ball kicked off. I was only 12 at the time and wasnt even a football fan (was a WWF kid). Truth be told, I had no idea what was going on outside of the fake story lines in the wrestling world and wouldnt have even watched the game if I hadnt been interviewed by ABC6 on New Years eve and they asked me where I was going to watch the Ohio State game at....I froze and didnt even know what to say lol.

Versus Illinois in 1968 when I was 9 - I remember listening on the radio for most of the games and seeing the blowout versus Michigan and the Rose Bowl. The super sophs sure were great, especially our hometown hero Jim Otis.

Archie, Pete and Corny are the guys I grew-up to watching on TV or listening to the game on the radio.  Wore a #7 jersey all the time.  First game I attended with Dad was in '78 against Iowa in The Shoe.  Still have the $9 ticket stub.  Don't remember much of the game except for Dad complaining about the old South Stands and those wooden seats.

Go BUCKS!!!
OHIO STATE in '13!!!

1980 TTUN 9, OSU 3 when I was a kid

and I remember when Schlichter was sacked to end the game, I asked my dad why he was smiling (to which my dad replied that he wasn't, it just looked like that because of his mouthpiece)

Simular to yours except I was 8 and remember the scUM game and the Jan. 1st 1969 Rosebowl.

The first game I ever seen live was ND @ scUM in 78 or 79 Uncle was a season ticket holder to the world's largest sesspool.

1st Buckeye game I ever seen live in was the 1984 scUM game at The Shoe. Keith Keith keith keith what a great sound the stands were viberating

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....

The 1st game I can really remember was the 68 Rose Bowl. I was a junior in high school. Back then there wasn't very much college football on tv, you might get to see the Mich game or Rose Bowl and thats about it. When OSU was on tv it was a big deal, you didn't miss it. Wide World of Sports would be on sat and sometimes they would have football. ND or Army was on a lot.
New Years day was such a big deal, you got to watch 3 football games the same day! That's a normal sat now.
Being in my 60's I see a lot of things now I wish we could go back to the way things were. Football coverage is not one of them. It is SO much better now.

If you are talking about the time Cris Carter seemed to float in the air along the sidelines it was the 1985 Citrus Bowl, played after the 1985 season vs. BYU.  Back then the Citrus bowl was more of an up and coming bowl game and was played on December 28th or 29th.  The Cotton Bowl was after the 1986 season and was played on Jan. 1 1987.

The first game I remember was the 1984 Fiesta Bowl vs. Pitt.  Played after the 1983 season.  Keith Byars took a kickoff 99 yards to the house and he had such a scooter stride he never lifted his knees it is hilarious to watch!  But in his OSU career, before his foot injury, he didn't seem to get caught from behind very often.

1969 Rose Bowl NC win over USC. I was 10 then, living in the wilderness of central PA.

The 60-whatever to14 shellacking Penn State laid on us in 1994. I was 10 years old and my town was having a carnival that night, which my grandma took me to after the game. Ah, memories.

I moved here in 1988 as a 4th grader and had never even heard of Ohio State. I remember the Michigan game because I had never seen anything like the build up during the week. I've been a fan ever since.

also remember watching a few with Pace on the line and Eddie but not as vividly as the 97 Rose Bowl... that set my Buckeye roots DEEP into the ground!!

The only one I've been to was also my first CFB game. Michigan State @ Ohio State, 98.

To hell with Georgia, and I don't give a damn about the whole state of Michigan!

old.gif  I remember watching in the late 60s. The days of Woody Hayes as head coach, with Kern at QB, and Otis in the backfield. The one play over the years that I remember best would be Byars TD run where he lost his shoe against Ill. Had just short of 300 yards in that game. I think it was a record at the time. Eddie went over 300 in a game. I believe Byars had 5 TDs in that game also. I think that tied the record for a Buckeye RB, with Big Pete Johnson. Too many big plays over the years that I will never forget. Can't remember what I did yesterday, but never forget big plays made by a Buckeye. Borens hit on Gardner is just the latest. beerchug.gif
