What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
What is the first tOSU game that you have some memory of-from TV, radio, or in person? The first games I remember are the 1985 Rose Bowl, and, the season after that, tOSU beating #1 Iowa in the Horseshoe, both on the radio.

being born in 87', mine is a little more "recent"... but the first one i can vividly remember is the Rose bowl vs Az St. in 97. Jake the Snake was doing some dirty deeds to our defense... but watching Boston strut into the endzone at the end of the game was a thing of BEAUTY!!
also remember watching a few with Pace on the line and Eddie but not as vividly as the 97 Rose Bowl... that set my Buckeye roots DEEP into the ground!!

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
I was born in 1987 and grew up watching all the games, my dad is an alumn and he raised me well. The first game that I have a vivid memory of was the 97' Rose Bowl, I remember David Boston's strut in the endzone after he caught the game winner like it was yesterday. My dad was screaming rabidly as soon as the ball was thrown, Boston was so wide open. 9:30 mark of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inT3Kbmut10

RE: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
Best game was in person as Keith Byers ripped through Illinois in what should have sealed the Heisman Trophy, Worst game was watching a two touchdown favorite OSU get demolished by Florida in the national championship game.

My first game in person was the was the first game of the 68 season. I was in the Boy Scouts and it was my first season as an usher. That first game was against SMU. I got to watch in person 6 homes games that year that we won a NC.
I had no idea how lucky I was until probably more than 20 years later.

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
I remember coming home from a poor performance in the Ford Punt, Pass and Kick competition and my brother trying to cheer me up by saying that I did better than OSU who lost to Penn State that day. I am not sure if that was 1963 or 64 but the first OSU game I attended was in 1963 vs Iowa and that was the week before OSU played PSU. Hard to believe that next season it will have been 50 years ago.
My Dad got tickets for that Iowa game through a player's family from Sandusky. They must have sold us their tickets beacuse I remember sitting by RB Tom Barrington's mother. I bet he had at least 20 carries- I heard the PA announcer say "Barrington carried the ball" throughout the entire game. I was amazed at the size of the stadium which held 20x the people as were in our entire town!

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
I started kindergarten in 1972 and was introduced to OSU Football by the emergence of Archie and the legend of Woody. The first game I watched was the 1972 OSU/scUM game since they only televised one game a year for teams. What a first game to see on the TV as a bright eyes 6 year old.
Ive been a fan ever since and have only missed 1.5 scUM games in the last 40 years. I had to miss the 2nd half of the 1979 game due to a family wedding and I boycotted the 1994 game after Coop started 0-5-1 against TTUN. I have not missed a Michigan game in 40 year and have seen and have been in the Shoe for 6 of the last 9 GAMES.
The first game I witnessed live was the 1985 Home Opener my freshman year at Ohio State against Washington State. This team featured Mark Rypien, Kerry Porter and Rufus Mayes, but Ohio State rolled them pretty bad that day.

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
Born in 1973, the first game I remember is the 1980 Rose Bowl. My family was hosting a big party that day, and I remember sitting around some watching it. I just remember several disappointed people afterwards. I really became a huge fan in 1984 and from then on rarely missed a game. I either watched it on TV, listened on the radio, or watched the replay on WOSU.

Born 1984... 1997 Rose Bowl is my first Buckeye memory too. I know I watched before, but I have no specific memory of it... A what a sweet first memory it is!!!
Could you imagine being young enough that the tOSU vs Florida NC game was your first Buckeye memory? You know it will be some poor Buckeye's fan first memory, and for them, I feel bad!

1980 Rose Bowl. I was 10. I watched Charles White dive over the pile at the goal line late in the 4th quarter to give USC the lead and the win.

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
First game I remember is the 1967 Purdue game ont he radio. We had family over and everyone was listeing to the radio and screaming as Purdue beat the hell out of us. I may have memories of earlier ones, but that one was one I remember, I was 3 going on 4 and the religious aspect of OSU football hit me even then in our family. And yes, folks were calling for Woody to be canned. I think OSU won the next 5 games.
The first game live was Minnesota in 1973 (?). OSU trounced them, I was 9.5 and Ohio Stadium became the holy land to me.

I don't know. Did Woody punch the camera man before Sam-the-bam-Cunningham?

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
The 1972 Michigan game, I can still remember Woody trying to keep the fans from tearing down the goal post early fearing that Michigan would have to go to the opposite endzone, with the wind, if they got into field goal position. Similar to the other 1972 poster, I have watched every game since, except the '83 game which was blacked out because both teams had used their allotment of t.v. games and most of the '88 game because my brother was in a state semi-final game that day.

born in '79. The '87 Cotton Bowl is the first one I remember. Buckeye games were regularly played in my house since I was born but that's the first one I actually remember specifically

Re: What is the 1st tOSU game you remember.....
I was born in 1961. Our family moved from Hamilton, OH to LA in 1966.
Two of the guys that worked for my dad also worked as custodians at the Rose Bowl. As part of their compensation, they were given tickets which they usually sold. My dad was able to buy 4 tickets, and On January 1, 1968, I attended my first Ohio State game. The Buckeyes vs. USC. While I was Young and don't recall the precise details of the game, I remember my dad pointing out Woody Hayes and the experience of being at the parade and the game as larger than life. It still seems that way to me after all these years.
