Re: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
I agree with what you are saying. College isn't for everybody and football isn't for everybody, but he was handed this opportunity and for whatever reasons (lazy? immature? unfocused? etc.) he's letting these chances slip by. I'm sure there are many who would've loved these chances to move their lives forward. Not saying he can't do so still, and I hope he can, but he sure seems to be making things hard on himself. truebuckeye99 wrote:

I used to think that, and because football means a lot to the fans (including us) especially those of us who live rather vicariously through college and professional athletes, it seems almost like a crime to have such God-given football talent seemingly go to waste.
But playing football and going to college never seemed that important to Duron. And that's OK if it is not meant for you. You could call him lazy, misguided, whatever, and he may turn out to be a total zero. Hopefully, he works hard and does something constructive with himself in future endeavors.

RE: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
I wish him the best.I'm sure if he put forth a little bit of effort in the classroom, he would've been fine. Comeon, it's not like he had to take organic chemistry/calculus each semester. There are so many resources to athletes, especially big time college football programs. Yes college isn't for everyone, but he just needed to put in a little effort, tutors were always available to work with him around his schedule. He is not a victim, he has nobody to blame but himself. People would kill for these oppertunities that he wasted away.
With that said, he has all the talent in the world and he is young. He still has hope, just needs to find some ambition and develop a strong work ethic and he can absolutely still be successful.
I would suspect he hasn't gotten his fondness for cheeba behind him. As you say, it isn't like he needed to take econ and organic chem to stay eligible in college.

I'll take that bet. NFL will take chances on potheads who are studs in college. This kid has 150 career receiving yards and hasn't played a down since 2010. He'll be dead or in jail by 2020. wcbuckeye80 wrote: Wanna bet?

Where has Chris been this whole time? If it is my kid Id be on his ass to get his stuff together. It is kind of funny to see Chris blast people on TV for being knuckleheads when he has his son who is a huge one.

Re: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
The assertion that Cris Carter has to work to support his son is absurd; he's very good at what he does, and can certainly stay at ESPN as long as he likes.

Re: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
Only if he works extremely hard, and Cris uses his NFL connections to get a tryout. And even then, I doubt it. My guess is, he is going to have to play somewhere (indoor league, Canada....) at some level to prove he deserves a look. Staying on a roster as a freshman at OSU and earning limited opportunities is not going to get a look from the NFL. TheStoicPaisano wrote: I'll take that bet. RE: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
He might get a tryout only because of his name. If you think he will actually ever see the field in the NFL it's not me who isn't the smart one. Im sure Duron has mad skills at Madden or whatever time consuming, waste of time, video game(s) that has kept him for doing what he is supposed to do at being even mediocre at the D1 level. If his father wasn't a Buckeye legend Duron wouldnt have seen the field. He didn't know the plays, had obvious work ethic problems, and was neither particularly fast to overcome his sloppiness. Taurian Washington was better, but never given the opportunity. Cris is one of my all time favorite Buckeyes and I happened to have a class with him a LONG time ago, but his kid doesn't get it which is a shame. If you cant even make it to the fall to even have a chance at playing in a game, the Big Boy league will have no use for whoever. I hate to see a kid wash out due to whatever deficiencies he might have, but anyone can put in hard work and he hasn't. wcbuckeye80 wrote: Marginal football players tend not to play a ton at Ohio State as 18 year old Freshman. Also, the word out of Alabama was that he was going to be their best WR. I'm certainly not saying he is Jerry Rice, bit if you think he's not a good player it is probably you that's not very smart. --------------------------------------------- --- IUZ69 wrote:
He will never make one catch in the NFL. He was marginal here when he played. Kid is LAZY and unmotivated and probably not very smart, either.
He will play with MoC next year if lucky. The kid wasn't that good.

Was wondering the same thing. Have to say I'm a little disappointed with Chris.

name an active NFL player with a similar college situation as Duron. wcbuckeye80 wrote: Yeah, the NFL has no problem children...LOL.. It's a high character league. He will get a shot.

His father is a piece of garbage, so I'm not surprised. Yes, that sounds harsh, but I blame him for a lot of this! WTF, Chris!

Re: Duron Carter has dropped out of FAU
I find it hard to believe that Chris accepts this. Duron probably will not see a football field as a player ever in his life again. It makes me wonder what kind of Dad Chris is to Duron.

A guy can be a hard ass and raise his kids tuff and they still turn out to be bums. Since DC (who has shown hes not interested in school) is probably living away from home CC may not have as much influence on him like he used to not to mention that DC is a grown man.

It's pretty sad how far being Cris Carter's son has taken him. This dude has worked for nothing and he gets chance after chance.

Bryce brown had a full year of carries and transferred to play with his brother (who will also have an nfl career). He was also a top 10 national recruit. Carter was a mid-range top 250 guy who has now left three schools in as many years. --------------------------------------------- --- Stellar wrote: Bryce Brown CalBayBuckeye wrote: name an active NFL player with a similar college situation as Duron.
