Re: How B-10 teams can lure SEC athletes awayfrom SEC

I have no idea why the hell you guys keep saying this. Alabama has played @ Penn State and playing Michigan State in a few years I believe. Not only that UTenn is playing at Oregon, and I believe there are some other teams they playing at their place.

And if you really think that 40-50 degree weather is "too cold" for southern teams I pity you. Big. Freaking. Deal. Wont affect their play at all I bet.

If the SEC had to play by the same rules as everyone else, athletes would be forced to pay attention to other qualities that a program offers, such as facilities, coaching staffs, and education.

Because of the prosperity of the BTN, the B1G conference would be superior in every way.

Until the SEC is disallowed from paying players w/huge bags of cash, there really is no way any other conference can compete with that. (Big Ten boosters have that kind of cash, but the problem is the Big Ten enforces the rules much more than the SEC does; and so does ESPN and the NCAA because of the structure of TV deals.)
Agree 100%

Also have SEC teams come north of the Mason-Dixon......will never happen...to cold

Love to see all the B10 bowl games played in Columbus, AA, Madison, etc
grew up playing football in the rain, mud, snow, ice .That's the part of the game

true, but it's few and far between...but they still are the daddy of college football.  Big Ten needs to schedule these games...and win to catch up.  It's not up to the SEC to schedule tough games and win, they already do...plus they kick ass in bowl games.

I hope this post was meant to be funny, if not you are in a dream world....
Not exactly.

While I don't think all the schools in the SEC are hending out bags of cash, its obvious a few are.  Now, is stuff happening everywhere, sure but not to that extent imo.  The stuff Ohio State got nailed for is petty and is happening everywhere but you only hear of the bags of cash at 4 schools recently.  2 of them are in the SEC which, along with an unprecedented run at the top, has brought out alot of haters.
I know this, the same guy who accused Auburn of giving him a bag of cash also, said he got money and women at tOSU while on a OV. So when was he telling the truth, both times, one time, or none of the time...

Re: How B-10 teams can lure SEC athletes awayfrom SEC

In fairness to SOME SEC schools-Florida plays FSU every year and Miami on a semi-regular basis, Georgia plays G-Tech every year and Clemson occasionally, and SoCarolina plays Clemson every year-those are tough, OOC rivals that are still in the South. That won't change.

There's a certain kind of reassuring white rock....and some people do well with that.....

The guy who said he was getting $100 handshakes in Columbus?  Thats the stuff I was referring to when I said its happening everywhere.  Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan....... etc all have players getting this stuff.  Its the Auburn/Old Miss bidding war that netted Cam Newton $250k, Oregon paying 5 figures for recruits and Miami paying for abortions that are the exceptions.

Re: How B-10 teams can lure SEC athletes awayfrom SEC

It all comes down to schools making sure that there is the necessary budget for recruiting trips and most importantly: coaches who actually want to recruit and care about it. Guys like Bielema and Pellini never seemed to care about recruiting, and go as far as to recruiting other transfers from schools so that they don't have to address real position problems in their programs. Most B10 coaches aren't too concerned with recruiting because they know that they aren't going to be severely pushed by their programs to do it.

No Meyer and Hoke are recruiting better, and Dantonio has stepped up a little bit in that department, but few other programs have. I expect Hazell to do some things at Purdue and perhaps Anderson at Wisconsin.

I know people won't think that kids will go to Wisky or Minnesota or Purdue, but if you can convince them that they will be playing in effective systems and be playing in NYD bowls and competing, and actually make trips and work to get them to attend the school, they will come. Probably not all top 150 type players, but better guys than what they are getting now.

Seriously, for all the whining about how B-10 teams stink, etc,etc-how does anyone on here reasonably expect Purdue,MSU,Illinois,Wisky,Iowa, etc. to seriously go into Georgia,Louisiana,Alabama, and Florida and steal elite recruits away from SEC schools.......
