Firefox Issues

If you are having problems with Firefox 1.0 or 1.5, upgrading to the latest version may solve your issues.

Note that this is considered best practice from the Mozilla Foundation, as they no longer support Firefox 1.0 or 1.5. See the bottom of this page for more details.

Browser Security Settings

Some browser security settings can affect proper viewing of Scout’s forums pages.  If you’re seeing only the top control panel section followed immediately by the "About Us | Privacy Policy | ..." bar, the following steps may correct the issue:

On IE 6/7:

Change the Internet Zone setting to medium:
1. From the “Tools” menu, select “Internet Options”.
2. Select the “Security” tab.
3. Set the security level for Internet Sites to ‘Medium’ and click ‘Apply’

On FF1.5/2

1. From the “Tools” menu, select “Options”.
2. Select the ‘Content’ Tab.
3. Make sure that ‘Enable Javascript’ is checked and click ‘Okay’.

Firewall Issues

Some users have reported unintended navigation events when using Scouts forums.  The most common errant behavior is spontaneous navigation out of a topic several seconds after the page appears to have completed loading.

This is a known issue for users of Norton 360 and may be affecting users of other security applications.

Norton 360 users:
To avoid this issue, disable Transaction Security while visiting the forums on Scout.com.  To do this, go to Norton 360's 'Advanced Settings' and uncheck 'Transaction Security'.  It is recommended that you choose to allow Norton 360 to automatically turn Transaction Security back on (you can select an appropriate interval after disabling it).

Other Security Application users:
Please temporarily disable any active security applications while visting Scout's forums to determine if the application is contributing to navigation issues.  How to do this will depend on the specifc application(s) installed on your computer.  After determining whether or not your security product is contributing to the errant behavior, please post the following information to the Forums Bug Reports forum:

   -Brief description of the problem
-Operating System (and version if known)
   -Browser (and version if known)
-Security application (manufacturer, application  name, application version if known)
-Any non-default settings that you are aware of.
-Did disabling the Security application solve the problem?

Note that we consider the disabling of certain security settings or applications as a temporary workaround and are actively working with manufacturers to resolve the conflicts where possible.

Thanks,
