Family friendly restaurants right near campus?

Family friendly restaurants right near campus?

An old fraternity brother of mine is in town tonight and just texted me, asking what I recommend for family-friendly restaurants around town. He has with him his wife, a 5 year old, and a 6 month old.

I gotta confess, I was clueless on this, as in recent years I am either on the campus, or off it, and rarely am just "around" it, except to walk from parking on Spring Street on game days.

Any good suggestions will be appreciated.

Depending on the attitude of the wife, the Cheeta is an option. tongue 6 month old will not care; might get confused if breastfeeding and the 5 year old isn't old enough to remember anything else but dancing and bright lights and loud music: just like Chuck E Cheese.

There are a lot of quick/fast food places on 5th street near spring: Waffle House, Asian place, Moes, Pizza joint, BBQ joint.  There are a lot of bar/grills on Peachtree.  The Vortex is adult only (I think?) but I think most others allow kids.

Antico Pizza, Flip Burger on Howell Mill, Crazy Cuban on 14th, Fire House Subs. . . .

I would consider the Taco Mac at P'tree and 10th a pretty 'family friendly' place, if bar food/Taco Mac is ok.

What meal (dinner, lunch, etc), part of town, and price range? Is he literally right near campus? How far are they willing to go? Any other plans that they want to work in with it (seeing sights, etc)?

There are a huge number of good options in town, and most are fine for families in my experience.

Just to make sure I have at least one suggestion here, I really like West Egg.

Dinner, medium price, the nearer campus the better. Just stopping for dinner and a quick look around campus before heading on down to Panama City.  Thanks, all!

Ray's Mediterranean and Pizza is good (IMO). In the same block as Barnes and Noble.

This is the correct answer. Parking is pretty easy (parking deck on Peachtree Place), the menu is kid friendly, and so is the atmosphere.

There are probably some Mellow Mushroom Pizza places near campus.  But Antico would probably be better.

Since it's beautiful you may try one of the rooftop places around. Six Feet Under, Five Seasons, Der Biergarten, etc.

Every time I go to Taqueria Del Sol on Howell Mill, which I love, it seems like every family in Midtown has hauled their 5-and-under kids to the place.  I don't know why - there's not much food for kids there - but it's always full of kids early in the evening.

If Gordon Biersch still exists, that might be an option, if your friend likes something that's the WORST.

Waffle House on 5th is a great option, but then again, it's a rare treat for me, so I have a tendency to think that.

Anticos is good, and the same owner has a place called Geo's right next to it that serves chicken and pasta dishes if you prefer that to pizza. Both restaurants are very good.

If you like straight up Americanized pizza (crust, sauce, lots of cheese and toppings) like I do, it's not going to be your favorite place, but it's a pretty cool place to eat, regardless.  It's loud, crowded, and there's not much there for kids to eat, though.
