JT only couple plays. No Laskey. Matt Jordan (qb) will be a player. No shaq mason (new baby) Perkins ran well. Byerly ran hard and had one long to run. Harrison made one of maybe 42. Missed 45? Just short but on line. Dominic nobel likes to hit! Kallen and gamble played back up middle, did well. The Austin twins are for real. Good scrimmage. Lot of passing. Couple of option tweaks. No pistol.

Thanks!! Any thoughts on the play of the offensive and defensive lines? Maybe hard to tell if people were out.?

Was JT hurt or just looking at the younger guys? I kept hearing the competition is close. Would like for JT to get as many reps as possible, but maybe CPJ wants to save him form a freak accident.

Re: Saturday Morning Scrimmage

Hard to tell what we have or don't have when playing yourself, but certainly had a good time watching this morning.  Noble isn't scared of contact. Beau H. plays with a lot of energy and is super aggressive.  He's was fun to watch this morning.  Tim B. is a tough kid and IMO very capable.  Smelter is a football player and would excel anywhere on the field.  Jordan while not polished, did impress me with his skill set.  Waller looks the part so I'm hoping he plays up to his potential this year.  Perkins had a few nice runs but I didn't see another Orwin/Godhigh today.  Hopefully we'll get that impact guy at Aback.  T. McNair seemed to be involved in several plays.  He caught my attention.   Every time I see Bostic, I wonder how he would do at receiver as catching the ball seems very natural.

Just a few of my takeaways.  Definitely made me excited about the upcoming season.

Edit:  Days did get carries at Bback which I found interesting.

Reports say JT was knicked and PJ did not want to take any chances.  PJ said he would have played in a real game.

Re: Saturday Morning Scrimmage

He played the first 4 or 5 snaps, but was taken out of the game after that.  He seemed a bit frustrated and I don't think it was his decision.   I'm thinking he's tweaked something and they're just being cautious.  Gave Jordan a lot of snaps that he probably wouldn't have gotten otherwise.

I belleve Tony Zenon is beginning to stake a claim to the AB spot opposite of Days. Think we've got a  solid backup QB in Byerly. That crowd we got from Barnesville can flat out play,........they look like SEC types.

Hard to tell. You tend to pull for both sides. Wierd. A lot of people played maybe all peoples. A lot of weapons on offense. Should wear down defenses as game moves along. I think roof was trying some things ... much blitzing

Don;t know if this is for public consumption, but Days played every position in the back field, including QB in goal line situations' Its nice to have a 230 lb. QB in when you need a couple of yards. cool

Loved the no-huddle O and the O linemen picking up the diving LB who was trying to time the snap count.

Re: Saturday Morning Scrimmage

Re: Saturday Morning Scrimmage

I don't think there's any question we will run the offense better this year. Byerly looked very solid with his reads, carrying the ball and throwing. Jordan looked great running the option but struggled badly throwing. Let me be the first to call for the 4th string guy to get more action. Martenson (sp?) looked pretty darn good. Got one series I believe, completed a few very nice throws and converted a 3rd and long and a 4th and long, scored a TD.

Nice day. Well run by GT. Players were great with kids after the game.

Believe both Hunt-Days and Whitehead were playing with the 2nd and 3rd team defenses.

Seriously?  There's NO QUESTION?

Byerly, for all intents and purposes, has never played.

Jordan won't play.

If calling for the 4th string guy is your strategy, let's just say I'm glad you're sitting on the sofa and not on the sideline.

Thomas showed us nothing today because he took just enough snaps to - wait for the big shocker - leave with an injury.

I'd say the odds are very good that this will be actually be the WORST offense CPJ has every had at Tech.
