The Wheeler curse is over

ARS is reporting that Charles Mitchell has committed to us.

In the last month CBG has closed better than Craig Kimmel.

With three incoming freshman, potentially four transfers playing for the first time for GT this year (Heath, Sampson, Cox and Mitchell) and Jorgenson returning form an injury where he played only four games, it will be interesting to see if we have any cohesiveness.  We only have four players who played significant minutes last year and only one of them is likely to start.

True, but at least talent shouldn't be an issue. I was beginning to think CBG was going to have to make a Curry-esque call out to the student body. It may not be pretty at first, but if CBG can coach, it could be real good around ACCT time.

Pretty nice lineup here after what looked like a total train wreck a month ago. I'm encouraged. Also, look at the class distribution: 3 FR, 2 SO, 3 JR, 2 SR. He has managed to recover from the CPH imabalance.

5 - Cox (SR)/Lammers (FR)
4 - Mitchell? (JR)/Sampson (SR)
3 - Hunt (JR)/Stephens (SO)
2 - Jackson (FR)/Bolden (JR)
1 - Jorgenson (FR)/Heyward (SO)
Georgian By Birth - Jacket By the Grace of God

It feels like we are fielding an expansion team with free agents.

It's good to get one from over at Wheeler!

I'm sorry but the Terps got the better end of that trade!!

Correct me if I am wrong.  But do our transfers in have the following eligibility to offer?:

Heath- 3 years
Cox- 1 year
Mitchell- 1 year
Sampson- 2 years
Jacobs- sits out one year and has one year of eligibility remaining

I am expecting this experience to be different from the one and done parade under our last basketball head coach.
I think these are young men who value the college basketball experience.  They don't even know if they will be drafted by an NBA team at their present skill level.  They have no reason not to exert themselves and do their very best in an effort to help their team and maybe even impress an NBA scout.

Swap Mitchell and Sampson and that's it.

All of college basketball these days feels like free agency.  There is so much roster turnover it's hard to follow anything.  About the only constant is that KY will recruit the best 5 freshmen every 2 years and make it to the final 4, and have a completely different roster every year.

Thank you very much, gtisdabest.  It will be interesting to see the eligibility chart once it is finalized, if it ever is.biggrin

The experience will be different than that, but very similar to the last 3 years.

Re: The Wheeler curse is over

Is there anyway we can get a dedicated Basketball forum?  These posts just board me to tears.

No one really cares this time of year.

Then don't open the thread.  There are lots of topics that I'm not particularly interested in and thus a number of threads I don't bother even opening.

The incoming transfers have very little talent.  No one on the team can shoot.  This rag-tag group will be lucky to win 5-10 games.

Then don't read it. When you go to the grocery store make sure to grab some cheese to go with your whine.

Are you referring to the Miami Heat?

Would you like a place a wager on that?  We'll easily win 10 games.
