GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

Well, I thought that the guys were running out of gas in the second half. But, they dug deep and came back. I was real happy to see it was the freshmen making plays down the stretch to try this game - particularly Georges-Hunt.

That last shot sure had me holding my breath, though.

NICE road win - ALL road wins are nice in the ACC!

+1 on all that. I was about having to not look when Thomas' shot was in mid air. We were due a break at the end of one though, big time!

A win!

Love seeing MGH go hard to the rack.

Brutal fundamentals, lots of missed layups...but winning is so much better.

Re: GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

Pleased with the win, but how we won says a lot about our upperclassmen. Our freshman were relied upon to make the big plays on D, get the big rebounds, and score the points when they mattered most. MGH is a ******* ****** (effing B.A., darn censors) and I love him. He was hacked to death on that dunk, should've gone to the line. He is an awesome Izzo-esque guard and would get serious minutes on almost any team in the country. He's going to be an all-timer if he stays 4 years bank it.

However, for our current purposes having only freshman who are competent enough to come up big when it matters is not how you consistently win games. Good sign for the future.

Gutsy win!  MGH has progressed so much in the past month.  Carter's 2 free throws were also clutch!

Wow, 9 for 9 on the FT line in the second half. That was clutch.

Go Jackets.

+1.  It was our turn.  First close win of the year.

Very frustrating to watch so many close in misses, but we must be doing something right to get so many close in shots.

Re: GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

Biggest thing in this win was that it was the freshman that led the final push....

Winning at Wake Forest isn't easy.

Georges Hunt and Carter were big time clutch.

Ugly as sin, but beggars can't be choosers. Glad to see Royal make some contribution. Clutch free throws by RCJ; lets keep this mo going thru the UNC game which will hopefully be a packed house

Re: GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

That was two BAD times battling out for the loss! Bob Carter at the FT line gives me the most confidence. We have looked pretty at times losing and now we finally win ugly!

Re: GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

Finally caught a break! Miller and Georges-Hunt played great towards the end. And how big were Carter's free throws...

Look out Tarholes...we're on our way to 20 Wins...and a great ACCT seeding!  biggrin

Now, I really know what "stealing one on the road" means.

Great effort by our S-A's!  And, a great "finish" by CBG and the coaching staff...
they called the go-to CJ Harris move by Wake PERFECTLY.

Great TENACIOUS D!  CBG's D-Train is ROLLING..."Full Steam Ahead"!

Re: GT - Wake Forest Post-Game Thread

I was afraid the four missed foul shots (flagrant and technical) were going to be the difference for us, but we pulled it out.

Carrots will dance, but I believe MGH and Daniel deserve some of their own:

And now for the team as a whole and a good effort:

Looks like we found our go-to-guy..Marcus was so clutch down the stretch and a beautiful turnaround J. These guys continue to play well on the road. Hope we give this type of effort on Tues night.
