Best car in the field and finishes 8th. Not surprising.

3rd in the last few laps until she got boxed out in the last few hundred yards.
When you already have the endorsement contracts, sponsor contracts, and adulation...finishing 8th or 3rd doesn't really matter.

Why does that happen all the time?

Lot of drivers lay back and save their cars till the last 10 laps or so. She impressed me today but are you surprised she didn't beat Johnson?

You have a pit crew, a driver and a car involved

If you want to go all authentic Nascar, you only refer to the car numbers, not the driver. It's way more confusing but that's how they do it.

Re: Danica top 5 with 5 laps to go (2 votes)
Yeah, because the 3-4th tenths of a second separating the pole from the 43rd spot is super huge, I really don't get all the hate for Danica, we drool over fat out of shape steroid using Baseball players who fail at the plate 70% of the time but begrudge a driver who finishes 8th in her first ever Daytona 500??? You obviously don't know **** about Nascar and what happens on restarts etc. It may not be everyone's cup of tea and you will have your usual,..."all they do is turn left" fans but there is a lot more too it and it may be the most level playing field of any "sport" CouchDuck wrote: Best car in the field and finishes 8th. Come on now, it's not a sport, just like darts or pool isn't a sport.

you are entitled to your opinion, I'm sure being in a car with up to 5g's pushing on you constantly for 3-4 hours and losing up to 10lbs is just like darts and pool. You have a clear bowling ball with a rose inside don't you? Spartan2785 wrote:

I still don't get it. Does the person with the best car and stuff win every race?
I've never watched NASCAR. I have no idea how it works.

--------------------------------------------- It appears that what ever car crosses the finish line first wins the race . . . not sure how fair that is . . . I suspect there is some sexism and racism involved.
